My cat is missing

Just that really. He's only one but has no road sense. He's been gone since Friday. It doesn't look good 😢

What are you doing to find your cat? Shock

Bookworm4 · 22/04/2019 22:55

Is he microchipped? Notify chip company he is missing. Tomorrow call local vets, get him on local FB pet pages, ask neighbours to check sheds and garages in case he's shut in.

Sleepforaweek · 22/04/2019 22:55

I had one come home after 6 weeks. Hope your cat comes back ❤️

123bananas · 22/04/2019 22:57

With the good weather people often have their sheds open, have you gone door to door and asked neighbours (including people with gardens that back onto yours) to check? Keep calling and banging a food dish outside just in case he does get out and is too scared to come back, he might come to your voice. I had one cat come back after 5 days that we knew was shut in somewhere as he nails were worn down from scratching.

EleanorLavish · 22/04/2019 23:00

Our cat was missing for 2 days. We printed out a little note and popped it in the letter boxes of all the houses up our road and road behind us. We suspected he was in someone’s shed.
5 mins after DH got back from delivering notes he ran in, someone had obviously checked and he was there!
We were so happy. So was he. He was a right nosy moo before but barely leaves the garden now though, it really frightened him.
Really hope your puss turns up. With all the food weather people have been opening sheds etc he could well be in one?

EleanorLavish · 22/04/2019 23:01

Cross post!Grin

Sakura7 · 22/04/2019 23:03

Agree with previous posters, he might be shut in somewhere. Check with the neighbours, ring all the local vets, ads on Facebook, etc. I had a cat come home after 17 days so don't give up hope.

surlycurly · 22/04/2019 23:06

Been round the local area, put up posters today. Called the council and the vet hospital (fucking terrible timing for a cat to go missing- the bank holiday makes it nigh on impossible). He's chipped and I couldn't get the company today. Also got the local cat rescue place to post on FB, and had my friend share my post too. He's wandered over night before but I've seen him run directly into the road several times. What worries me is if something has clipped him and he's gone under a bush or something to hide. I didn't hear him on my numerous rounds though... he's really vocal normally.

Years ago I got one back after she exacted from somewhere we were visiting. She was gone for 8 weeks. Totally different personality to this one though. He's just so wee and a bit daft. Best natured cat I've ever had though

One of my cats is also missing, last seen on Tuesday. It's an awful feeling when you're doing all you can but feel so helpless.

I hope your cat comes home soon.

surlycurly · 22/04/2019 23:14

Oh no @torthecatlady - fingers crossed that they turn up soon. I just feel very bleak about this... it's a real worry Sad

OP posts:
torthecatlady · 22/04/2019 23:17

Me too. He has previous for wandering off but not for this long nor in this heat. I've not been dealing with it very well and I'm not sure how I'll cope if he doesn't come home Sad

Still have our beautiful ginger cat but even he is acting strangely because his friend isn't home.

My heart goes every time i hear the cat-flap.

PineapplePatty · 22/04/2019 23:21

I hope they both come home soon

surlycurly · 22/04/2019 23:25

Yeah I have the twin brother of this one here and he's not a happy cat. He's normally really quiet but he keeps crying at the door to get out. I have a Russian blue who seems delighted by his absence and he's never been so nice! What makes it worse is that we got him to replace our last cat who was knocked down in front of us (different area). The kids saw it so this wee puss has always been a valued replacement and addition to the family.

OP my cat (the one who went missing for 17 days) was such a dozy, timid little thing. She wasn't exactly streetwise and I was worried sick that she wouldn't survive, but she came home. It toughened her up a bit too and now she rules the roost! She got shut into an industrial estate over the Christmas holidays, with your little fella gone over Easter it's possible something similar happened to him. Do keep going out with food and calling him in case he's lost his way and is confused. Keeping everything crossed for you.

surlycurly · 22/04/2019 23:28

Thank you for all the support folks! I suppose I just needed to hear some good stories and not just the awful ones in my head!

My stepson has decided he's gone on a cat holiday! Fingers crossed...

Please keep us updated. Will be thinking of you! Thanks

Stripyhoglets · 23/04/2019 00:06

We've got a cat we think has got itself lost as its been hovering around for days at various houses being freindly. Taking it to vet tomorrow to scan and hopefully find its owner - so i hope your cat has just done similar and will be back soon. Unless you live in a town beginning with W in which case message me as i might have your cat (i think this obe is a girl though)

Tavannach · 23/04/2019 02:38

I hope you find him safe and well.

MidnightLavender · 23/04/2019 03:23

My boy went missing for a month. I laminated missing posters (with my phone number on) and put them all around the town.
It was successful and someone rang me to say they’d spotted him.
Good luck OP, cats going missing is the epitome of hell. Cats love a good wander and don’t realise the stress they cause!

Stripyhoglets · 23/04/2019 11:13

Our cat is a girl and isnt chipped. Vets have taken details but i dont know how we will get her re-united with her owner.

Chancewouldbeafinethlng · 23/04/2019 11:19

Hope he turns up soon op. I’ve had cats go missing and they always come back

surlycurly · 23/04/2019 21:14

Still nothing. Had a false alarm earlier and went looking but to no avail. Been out postering and searching most of the evening. Did have a horrible moment earlier when someone admitted that their brother hit a cat in my area the other night (same time) and drove away AngryAngry. No sigh of anything. Phoned the council again and no sign of him. Kids both had a meltdown earlier. DD is having mental health issues anyway so she had a full blown panic attack. I just wish he'd turn up either way.

IhateBoswell · 23/04/2019 21:21

Aww hope he's home soon.

thecatneuterer · 23/04/2019 21:23

Have you asked all the neighbours to check their sheds and garages?
