OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 22/04/2019 21:30

I know this is not a great way to diet BUT I have reached crisis in terms of eating habits and I need to break the cycle of cakes, bread, sugar etc super fast.
I will be eating healthy as my main meal and plan to continue super healthy eating after a Couple of weeks of shakes. I just need a kick start....
Does anyone have any recommendations?
There are a lot more out there than there was the last time I did slim fast!!!
TIA

I wouldn’t have thought that any are better than each other as they all will contain vitamins and fibre to fill you up, it’s just a question of personal taste and price.

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 22/04/2019 21:59

Thanks for reposnse fire. I think I'm hoping someone will come on and say "oh try this one, it's yum and fills you up and you definitely don't crave food" Grin

It's the black sheep of the dieting world for sure - but chocolate slimfast works for me. And only the chocolate. Not so keen on the other flavors and see no point in forcing myself. It's not real food after all Grin

I like it.
It makes me feel full.
It has apx 200 calories in it and does me a good 4 hours.
It has vitamins in it.
You can bung one in your hand bag and drink it whenever you start to feel hungry.

I'll be totally honest and say if i really want to shift a bit of weight i'll have 3 or 4 of these for a day and no actual food (healthy or otherwise). And the next day i'll have 2 of them and a meal at some point (healthy or otherwise). The weight really drops off after a couple of weeks like this.

Superdrug has slimfast on offer at the moment in their ready to drink shakes, powders and vitality powders.

Laiste · 22/04/2019 22:11

It's really gone up in price though just recently! Angry

Laiste · 22/04/2019 22:12

Exante. Massive range. Taste good and works. There is a FB group, lots of support. And the tide is turning on VLCD being a good way to lose weight.

Laiste · 22/04/2019 22:21

Last summer (and for ages before that) you could pick up individual slimfasts for a pound each in Savers. sigh

It's galling to pay 9 quid for 6. It happened all of a sudden as well. First tesco stopped stocking it at all for ages, and then it disappeared from Savers and reappeared in Tesco at this sort of price. humph

Chocolate Slimfast is so yum!

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 22/04/2019 22:26

Brilliant thank You!
You are right about it being the black. Sheep but I'm an all or nothing type person so if I try gentle healthy eating I will eat really well but ruin it by scoffing crisps and choc at 10pm!!

Superdrug's knock-off version of slimfast is good. I like the caramel flavour best.

Parsley1234 · 22/04/2019 22:29

My lodger is a scientist who did his phd on replacement meals ! He says the best one for nutrition and ingredients are Exante or lighter life.
Simfast have no nutritional value

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 22/04/2019 22:31

Thanks parsley I'll check those out too!

I'm just a bit lazy about eating and sometimes have the slim fast mocha shake instead of lunch. It's really nice and does fill you up.

How much is Exante and lighter life? I'm guessing they're pricey.

I realise i'm banging on about price a lot Grin

Ginandtonic31 · 22/04/2019 22:43

Have a look at Slim & Save. They're VLCD like lighter life etc but not too badly priced. I find the chocolate one really tasty!

Laiste · 22/04/2019 22:46

Googled Exante and the flavors look lovely! Working out about £1.50 each. Not too bad.

Are they a powder mix though? I can't seem to see on the website?

Squiff70 · 22/04/2019 22:49

Those Slim Fast ready-to-drink shakes from Superdrug are extortionate, not on offer at all! I only like the chocolate ones too, and the powdered stuff you mix with milk or water is vile. I'm watching this thread with interest...

Asda had the single bottles for £1.25 but they went up to £2 each the other day. I think the current cheapest price for the ready-to-drink shakes is Home Bargains where they're £1.49 a bottle (£8.94 for 6).

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 22/04/2019 22:50

The exante are 1.59 per shake, I think it's a sachet.... Not too bad?...

Squiff70 · 22/04/2019 22:51

EDIT: Just seen the're on 3 packs for £24 so cheaper than Home Bargains. I apologise!

FiremanKing · 22/04/2019 22:53

24 divided by 18 is £1.33

So Superdrug is cheaper for slimfast if you buy 3 packs of 6.
