Just browsing on my Facebook page before bed and this pic popped up on rate my plate... it's so disgusting and my feet itch but I can't stop looking at it. Bleurgh!!! Why do I find the holes so disgusting? It's just pasta or crumpets or flower heads. What is it about them that's so vicerally gross?

Exactly the same, can't put it into words but there is something innate that gives me the creeps looking at it. Eurgh

DaisyDreaming · 19/04/2019 23:27

They think it’s an evolution thing! What’s weird is how it gets worse the more you look at them

Flower777 · 19/04/2019 23:27

It makes me breathe funny too. Also itchy feet.

Ughhhhhhhhhh. Why did I look whyyyyyyy

Deadringer · 19/04/2019 23:34

The holes don't bother me but it doesn't look like something I would want to eat. Yuck.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 19/04/2019 23:39

That probably tastes lovely but it looks vile.
Like a gross Swiss roll.

BlueCornishPixie · 19/04/2019 23:42

Ugh.

I think it's so gross because lots of little holes looks like a skin infection. Like impetigo or something that we shouldn't touch.

It sends shivers all down my back, like I can imagine the holes growing all over my body.

user1469530553 · 19/04/2019 23:42

I have never suffered from trypophobia, but that looks very unappealing. Also the tubes make me think of blood vessels and veins etc. Yuk.

cricketmum84 · 19/04/2019 23:43

Saw the same post earlier this evening too. It just looks rank and inedible. Makes me feel quite sick!

FoxSquadKitten · 19/04/2019 23:46

Ewww rank. It's looks like lots of verrucas 😩

Doubletrouble99 · 20/04/2019 01:46

Ye verruca or a mass of vile black heads!

mcjx · 20/04/2019 01:49

Don't know why I opened this thread Sad good god!

WatcherintheRye · 20/04/2019 02:24

I opened this thread because I didn't know what trypophobia was, wanted to find out, and also wanted to see if I had it! I don't think I do, but bleurgh at that food!

Neilsfavouritechilli · 26/04/2019 14:18

www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-48058863 The BBC have an article about trypophobia (warning contains gross pictures of lotus flowers, crumpets and breast muscles.

Reminds me of maggots and decay

JugzyMalone · 26/04/2019 14:30

Have you seen that photo of milk ducts that's going around. It makes me want to rip my insides out.

Catsandbootsandbootsandcats · 26/04/2019 14:34

I don't suffer with it at all, and I'll eat anything, but that food looks totally unappetising. Like really really gross!

Merename · 26/04/2019 15:14

The milk duct photo is on that bbc article, I found it quite fascinating as I get blocked ducts often and often wish I could see what was going inside to fix the problem! I obviously don’t have it and not sure if it’s something you can really explain, but why is that pic troublesome, isn’t the trypophobia about holes? Is that one not just squeamishness about seeing body parts like that?

Neilsfavouritechilli · 26/04/2019 15:25

You're right in that trypophobia is usually a hole thing but those milk ducts are so orderly and symmetric it makes me feel the same way.

HORRIBLE

BastianBux · 26/04/2019 15:35

Oh no. I was waiting with baited breath when I clicked the link for this thread but I did it anyway. Now I'm itchy and shuddery. It's like the visual version of nails on a blackboard or skin rubbing paper/cardboard.

BastianBux · 26/04/2019 15:38

isn’t the trypophobia about holes?

For me it's holes and also clusters of individual things together, especially circular-ish things... In fact, even the word "cluster" makes every pore on my body stand on end. I feel like I have things crawling on my body.

MitziK · 26/04/2019 15:49

I think it's a reaction to things that are reminiscent of parasite infection, as there are certain ones that nobody on this thread would ever be able to watch the removal of. Especially when you take into account the descriptions of the feelings PPs have at the thought.

puppymouse · 26/04/2019 16:22

It looks like fucked up bone marrow Envy

Cherrio · 26/04/2019 16:26

My idea of hell - makes my brain itch but I can't not look 😫 it's the naturally occurring aspect that disturbs me. It seems wrong somehow that nature creates such perfectly round patterns . off to bleach brain

Mrsemcgregor · 26/04/2019 16:32

It was never on my radar, then when I heard of it I wondered why it bothered people. But somehow by googling images I had actually made my self more and more bothered by it. The other day I went cold at the pattern the bubbles made in the washing up bowl Hmm
