Easter weekend ruined..

HerRoyalFattyness · 19/04/2019 15:59

... ruined I tell you!

Anyone elses kids decided to get ill this weekend?
My youngest has only gone and got chickenpox.

I was really looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend as i usually work a 50 hour week. But no.
The 3 year old just had to spoil it.
Selfish little sod.

Might not be too bad. Mine had it 2 weeks ago. Nearly 100 spots but calpol managed his aches and pains and germoline anaesthetised the itch and stopped infection- just had to stay away from other people so lots of country walks and picnics!

Kungfupanda67 · 19/04/2019 17:56

Mine didn’t really care when they had chicken pox - you might get lucky 🍀

PotteringAlong · 19/04/2019 17:56

Yes. A vomiting bug has hit our house. I feel like death warmed up, as does DH, as does the 2 year old. The 4 year old is suspiciously quiet. The 7 year old is fine and already bored.

Lots of lovely plans with friends; all scrapped. I could cry.

Yep DS was throwing up last weekend, DD on Tuesday this week so still isn’t 100%, and now DS is feverish again and his belly hurts so potentially another stomach bug Sad can’t decide wether I feel dodgy or just paranoid. Such a nice weekend too!

HerRoyalFattyness · 19/04/2019 18:02

Oh no, DS2 is very dramatic. He's been crying most of the day.

Hope those with puke bugs get better soon!

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 19/04/2019 18:02

DD came down with a bug today. Stomach pain, being sick and hot. She got chicken pox 23rd December. She's very inconsiderate of my relax time 🤨

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 19/04/2019 18:04

To reiterate a pp, DD had no issues with chicken pox except the actual spots. No itching and no actual sickness. You may get lucky yet!

CakeNinja · 19/04/2019 18:04

Are they poorly with them? My 3 were all completely fine other than a bit of night time itching which wasn't too bad once they’d got to sleep.
My niece on the other hand was terribly affected even getting them on her eyeballs Grin
Lots of baths with oats tied up in a sock dropped in to let the water go milky, it’s a soothing emollient. They were all having about 3 baths a day although we did lose a lot of socks!

HerRoyalFattyness · 19/04/2019 18:05

He's really unwell with them. They're in his mouth.
We counted 57 by 2pm. More have come out since.

CakeNinja · 19/04/2019 18:05

Sorry, xpost.
What’s causing the crying, is he in pain? Is it the itching? Is he sad about missing out on fun plans?
Sorry to hear your weekend isn’t going to be as planned, kids hey?!

CakeNinja · 19/04/2019 18:07

And again!
Oh bless him, pox in the mouth Shock
No wonder the little one is crying!
Poor thing, figure out what medication you can give him and make sure you piggyback them to spread them out and keep him topped up.

HerRoyalFattyness · 19/04/2019 18:07

He's crying because hes itchy, sore, tired, hungry, not hungry, wants to see his new key worker from preschool, wants his nan, wants mummy, wants the cat for a cuddle.... you name it, he cries HmmGrin
But then again, he can be like that anyway!

KatewithaH · 19/04/2019 18:12

I saw something about a type of head and shoulders shampoo helping chicken pox may be worth asking Dr Google

cwg1 · 19/04/2019 18:23

Scoop of icecream? It'd help to numb the soreness and itchiness and slip down easily. Hope he's better soon.

sighrollseyes · 19/04/2019 18:25

My DS has it 2 weeks ago and was absolutely fine - not even calpol needed. I thought I'd get some work done while he laid in front of the TV all day - no such luck. No change to him at all apart from the spots.

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 19/04/2019 18:28

This was us last year! DS1 had chicken pox about three weeks before Easter, and was all fine and dandy again. Phew, we thought, that's both of them out the way (DS2 having already had it the previous summer).

Good Friday, DS2 woke up with it. Again. Couldn't believe our sodding luck. Cue cancellation of the huge family meal my mum was already defrosting the joint for, and extended family all having to change their whole Easter because of The Pox.

I totally feel your pain OP.WineThanks

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 19/04/2019 18:31

Ice lollies? Gets fluids and calories in, soothes his mouth.

PetitsGateaux · 19/04/2019 18:32

This is great for chicken pox, and you can get it from Boots or Amazon: www.boots.com/poxclin-coolmousse-10076517
My daughter had the dreaded pox when she was 3, and didn’t scratch at all after using it.

cpjoli · 19/04/2019 18:34

Not the kids but me instead. Hopefully everyone has avoided it. I feel so I'll.

CottonSock · 19/04/2019 18:36

We have had Scarlett fever, falling put of bed, black eye hitting table, colds (me and dh), severe allergic reaction for older dd... We are only part way in!

HerRoyalFattyness · 19/04/2019 18:46

I have calamine cream, but will try the boots stuff, thank you!

He's drinking plenty of water.

cotton oh no! Sounds horrendous!

Oh, us too! Woke up spotty this morning. I'm (lighthearted) very fed up! And so is he. Poor love. I'm also fed up of watching Power Rangers. Grin Snuggles and paracetamol and scratch-watch
And a week off school to juggle. I'm just glad he's not poorly poorly with it so far.
Hugs OP!

HerRoyalFattyness · 19/04/2019 19:01

usually im lucky that DP is a SAHD. So no need to worry about time off work!

Im just annoyed that he decided to get it over the bank holiday! The one time i can actually relax and he dies this to me, little shit (lighthearted, for the pearl clutchers...)

OP posts:
Wheresmyvagina · 19/04/2019 19:05

Yeah I'm not a pearl clutcher but you've 'lightheartedly' blamed him for ruining your weekend and crying about 5 times. He's in pain and itchy. Stop being so mean about it.

HerRoyalFattyness · 19/04/2019 19:09

wheresmyvagina
Oh lighten up.
Im allowed to moan that my kid is ill. Yes it does change plans.
Im well aware he isn't well and itchy, its not like im telling him im annoyed os it. For fucks sake.
