Anybody else nervously waiting for offer day tomorrow?

How am I this nervous? It's my eldest dc's time to get her school allocation and I swear I'm more anxious than picking up my GCSE results or finding out my university offers.

We are in the catchment for an excellent school but it looks 50/50 whether we will get it. It's walkable, it's convenient for dc2's nursery and it's a small, cozy school I love the vibe. My dsis (who works in that sort of area) has told me even though I've put it first we won't get it.

Dh wants dc1 to go to our second choice as it's the school he went to. Equally good school but further and more in inconvenient. Considerably larger as well.

I know what will be will be but fuck me. I've got major butterflies and chewing my nails. Anybody else?

Yep, DC2. By some bizarre and complex fluke DC 1 got allocated a place at an amazing school we didn’t bother putting on our list as too far, we don’t go to church etc etc. Now hoping the sibling rule will be enough to get DC2 in too 😬 it will be a massive ball ache if they’re at different schools! We put it as 1st choice, so we have everything crossed!

Basketly · 15/04/2019 15:17

Yes.

DD goes to our lovely tiny village school. Since she started they’ve built a huge new build estate between us and the school...hoping sibling rule will be enough to get DD in!

cheesenpickles · 15/04/2019 16:56

That's the reason my sister said my dc won't get in because it's a single class intake and there are gulp at least 10 siblings this year (according to a mum friend who is already at the school with older dc.

Yep, going to try and log in at midnight and see if it's online. Have applied to three very good schools, including our catchment school but all three are consistently massively oversubscribed. I'm happy with DD attending any of the schools we've applied to, but very nervous that we won't get any of our preferences.

TeaForDad · 15/04/2019 18:51

I suppose we get an email?
We've only put one school so if we don't get that my mum will have to home school them!!

ILoveAnOwl · 15/04/2019 20:01

I was told it was today so have been obsessively checking my emails!!!

I'll check again tomorrow...

Jamct23 · 15/04/2019 20:10

I’m waiting too, Does any one know if you can view at 12 tonight?

SoyDora · 15/04/2019 20:13

Jamct23 DD1 started last year and I logged in at midnight, I think it updated at 12.07 and the email came a minute later.
DD2 is starting this year, I’m assuming she’ll get a place due to sibling criteria but I guess there are no guarantees!

Bunnyhop1502 · 15/04/2019 20:14

I keep telling myself that any in the top three will be great but deep down I know I will be disappointed if DS doesn’t get first choice. My area is an email containing the offer at 5.30 tomorrow. Fingers crossed everyone.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 15/04/2019 20:16

You’re talking about school applications right?
Should find out for DC1 tomorrow but this thread reminded me 😄 we’re away on holiday, wonder if it will be email or post.

SoyDora · 15/04/2019 20:17

cheesenpickles we didn’t get offered our first choice initially, it was a 30 intake at an oversubscribed school, with 17 siblings in that year!! However we were then offered a waiting list place in July (which we turned down as we had decided we preferred our second choice!), so it is possible even when large sibling numbers.

KitKat1985 · 15/04/2019 20:19

Yeah I'm a bit twitchy for tomorrow to be honest. DD1 has autism and our first choice school is really good for SEN, so I'll be gutted if we don't get it.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 15/04/2019 20:20

This is worrying me now 😄 0.25 miles from both an infants and a primary and all my mum friends are pretty confident we’ll all get in to one of them but this thread is winding me up 🤣 only put 3 choices down.

Good luck then everyone!

cheesenpickles · 15/04/2019 20:29

@BendydickCuminsnatch we're 0.3 miles as the crow flies. Bricking it. We put 5 down but I really only want the top two choices.

Andddddddd the admissions portal has crashed Hmm

Like it does every bloody year!

cheesenpickles · 16/04/2019 01:41

Fell asleep and just woke up. Second choice, husband will be pleased. I expected it tbh and I'm ok with it but a little sad as well.

No results through yet here for East Sussex.

Looks like I'll be anxiously sneaking glances at my mobile on my work shift this morning.

MsFrosty · 16/04/2019 06:11

our portal in wirral is down!

Thepacksurvives · 16/04/2019 06:12

Sorry you didn't get your first choice. Times like this I'm glad we live rurally and don't have to stress about school choices too much. Two "outstanding" schools near me. Our nearest school is 1/2 mile away and there's only 6 properties which are closer then us. our first choice is 1 mile in the other direction in a small village but thankfully there's not loads of kids. DD will be in a class of 10.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 16/04/2019 07:17

Morning! I’ve not received an email, and logged on to the applications portal and there’s nothing on there other than my application? Confused I’ve googled to see if there’s a different site for the results but can’t see anything? Sorry, I’m away on hol so want to see online rather than post so would appreciate help!

BellaBellaBelle · 16/04/2019 07:22

We’ve had nothing yet....only so many times I can press send and receive!

WingBingo · 16/04/2019 07:27

DH only put one school down, as I found out too late.

We are rural and if DS2 has a different school to DS1 it would be a logistical struggle.

Anyhow not an issue as I have just opened the email and it is our one and only choice.

DH is off the hook.

LoisLittsLover · 16/04/2019 07:29

Our emails came out about 2pm last year

BendydickCuminsnatch · 16/04/2019 07:30

We’ve had nothing yet....only so many times I can press send and receive!

Ok phew not just us then! Good luck!

stucknoue · 16/04/2019 07:46

They vary around the country, it's midday here. Good luck everyone
