Anybody else nervously waiting for offer day tomorrow?

How am I this nervous? It's my eldest dc's time to get her school allocation and I swear I'm more anxious than picking up my GCSE results or finding out my university offers.

We are in the catchment for an excellent school but it looks 50/50 whether we will get it. It's walkable, it's convenient for dc2's nursery and it's a small, cozy school I love the vibe. My dsis (who works in that sort of area) has told me even though I've put it first we won't get it.

Dh wants dc1 to go to our second choice as it's the school he went to. Equally good school but further and more in inconvenient. Considerably larger as well.

I know what will be will be but fuck me. I've got major butterflies and chewing my nails. Anybody else?

We got ours just after midnight last night. We got our first choice but we expected to as DD1 is there and we live very close.

WifOfBif · 16/04/2019 08:37

Ours came in at 3am, got out first choice thankfully!

We had an awful time with DS1 so I’m relieved it’s been painless this time. Good luck to all waiting!

We should be getting an email at 4pm. I'm incredibly nervous because I really need dc3 to get into the same school as dc2, otherwise it will be impossible to manage. I was told when applying for dc2 that they don't usually get oversubscribed but I think it's becoming more popular. Having a sibling there will be a point in our favour but we are just over a mile away which makes it more nerve wracking.

Fingers crossed for everyone waiting!

I haven't received anything yet.

redstapler · 16/04/2019 08:51

@WingBingo why wasn't it a joint discussion?

WingBingo · 16/04/2019 09:26

Because DH doesn’t spend time reading threads like this one so arrogantly thinks that we will get our first choice.

It is a small village school, 16 to a class and we live less than a mile away. BUT you still can never be sure.

So I was relieved.

redstapler · 16/04/2019 09:29

But what I meant is why would you leave something as important as that to a DH who you know is a bit clueless on the subject?!

WingBingo · 16/04/2019 09:35

He did it without telling me. He is the primary carer as he is the sahp.

I’m pretty sure not all parents site at the computer together filling it out. He deals with the school admin all the time.

APurpleSquirrel · 16/04/2019 09:38

We got our first choice thankfully - even though we're not in catchment & it's a tiny village school with a very small intake. So pleased. Got our result at midnight but DB has to wait till 5pm to find out in their area.

ReginaGeorgeous · 16/04/2019 10:41

We got our 2nd choice, which we are happy with. The school we'd put as first choice we weren't in catchment for so we didn't realistically expect to get in, but the one we've been given is an excellent school and we're pleased. We found out a few minutes after midnight.
