Baby only just fits in Moses basket at 11 weeks!!

DS is very long and at 11 weeks his Moses basket is at full capacity! It's a shnuggle basket too so larger than average!

Just wondering if anyone had been in the same position, if so where did you put baby down for a nap in the day?

Does your Oran have a bigger flatbed? Otherwise you can set up a travel cot downstairs or out baby in their actual cot upstairs with monitor for their naps. So people would say you should be with baby all the time but most mums leave baby to nap and get on with things anyway.

Happyspud · 09/04/2019 19:02

Oran=pram

Jackshouse · 09/04/2019 19:02

Yep. We had to convert the pram to pushchair mode too. DD mostly slept on me or in her pushchair which we kept in the hallway.

DD outgrew the Moses basket after 2 weeks! We wedged the cot bedside our bed.

BikeRunSki · 09/04/2019 19:05

DS grew out of the Moses basket around the same age. I just put him to nap in his cot. Dad never liked the Moses market and went straight in a cot, but napped in the carrycot of her peanut.0

BikeRunSki · 09/04/2019 19:05

Peanut= pram

Redskyandrainbows67 · 09/04/2019 19:07

They do grow out of Moses basket really fast.
You need to put him/her in a proper cot now to sleep or the pram as they’ll be rolling soon too

Skisunsnow · 09/04/2019 19:07

Yep all 3 of mine have outgrown the Moses basket by 4 weeks. Just use the cot instead. Use your pram carrycot if you need for naps.

Soubriquet · 09/04/2019 19:07

My dd didn’t outgrow her Moses basket until she was 9 months Blush

But she couldn’t pull herself up at that age so I was happy to leave her in it.

My ds refused to sleep in it. We persevered for a couple of weeks but finally gave up. He napped in his baby swing. He also slept in it at night, with it rocking and white noise on it.

He had undiagnosed CMPA so spent so much of his time screaming that we resorted to any way possible for him to nap

Redskyandrainbows67 · 09/04/2019 19:08

Ps 11 weeks is actually quite late to still be in Moses basket !

Really?? Hmm

Yes!
Most people don’t bother with a Moses basket for their second/third children and just use the pram carry cot or straight into cot

Scrumptiousbears · 09/04/2019 19:31

My first DD didn't even go in our moses basket. We used a travel
Cot but bought a mattress for it so it was more comfortable. She slept in this until she went in her own cot.

ememem84 · 09/04/2019 19:35

Yep. Ds was out of the Moses basket by 9 weeks.

Bluntness100 · 09/04/2019 19:40

Gosh, our Moses basket didn't last more than a couple of weeks. Our daughter was in her cot very quickly, and she also had one of those little rocking seats, and a pram. The Moses basket didn't last long at all.

m0therofdragons · 09/04/2019 19:41

Dd was long so was only in it for 4 weeks - small though. She didn't hit 11lbs until 12 weeks old and I remember thinking how many larger babies would be too big at birth for a Moses basket. Pointless things.

Vanillaradio · 09/04/2019 19:43

Ds was in his Moses basket till nearly 5 months and he was pretty average sized! Maybe we had an extra big one? I just put him in travel cot or pram downstairs for naps after that......

SoyDora · 09/04/2019 19:43

My 75th centile (for length) baby was in hers until she could pull herself up to sitting at 5 months, some of these babies must be huge!

1Wanda1 · 09/04/2019 19:48

11 weeks in a Moses basket - I have never heard of a baby still being in one beyond 6 weeks.

DD was small (under 25th percentile) and had grown out of her basket by 8 weeks. She naps in a bedside crib now.

Bluntness100 · 09/04/2019 19:58

Babies should not be in Moses baskets if they can roll over or pull themselves up. They are really intended for a max three months and before they can do either of those things,. Most kids grow out much earlier than the three months. Babies can sleep in cots from day one.

Our daughter was in the 95 percentile for height when she was born, so hers was fairly pointless. And it seems from most responses on this thread so were many others.

Stillmonday · 09/04/2019 20:31

My baby cant yet roll or pull himself up.
The reason for the thread was for ideas where else he could nap as I don't fancy him napping upstairs in the day when I'm down here unless I get a baby monitor

Crikey have Moses baskets shrunk? Mine were all in them until at least 5 months, DC4 until 9 months. All regular sized babies too.

Bluntness100 · 09/04/2019 20:46

Op, his pram. Or a baby bouncer works well for day time.

CocoLoco87 · 09/04/2019 20:46

DS was in a Moses basket till 4 weeks when he outgrew it. Then he went in a cotbed in his own room. We couldn't fit anything bigger than a Moses basket in our room as flat was tiny.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 09/04/2019 20:50

DS wasn't in his Moses basket for long either. He napped in the buggy downstairs (it had a lay flat option) during the day, or on me. TBH I wish I'd put him for naps in the cot upstairs, with a monitor as I think it would have helped with nighttime sleeping.
