What’s your opinion on it all? The fame the book the money making? Is it genuine or has this been planned all along? I can’t quite work it out!

OP posts:
LimeKiwi · 08/04/2019 17:24

She apparently had a normal IG account that she decided to upload videos of her and her house.
Then it took off from there. She seems completely genuine to me, and anyway even if she is making money from it all - bloody good for her, I would too.
Love watching her stories

MikeUniformMike · 08/04/2019 17:56

I watched a clip of her on the tv show with Holly and Phillip. She literally said literally literally every few seconds. Literally. I didn't watch the full clip.

AnnieOH1 · 08/04/2019 18:00

From what I understand she registered domains etc well before her first post. It was planned essentially. She has a background in marketing. It seems all very calculated to me.

LimeKiwi · 08/04/2019 18:02

She doesn't have any websites or anything else as far as I'm aware, just her IG account so not sure where you've got that from Confused

IvanaPee · 08/04/2019 18:04

Registered domains? She hasn’t even got a website and was either a hairdresser or beautician by trade! Confused

HJWT · 08/04/2019 18:04

@LimeKiwi the first few articles about her she paid for herself to get followers.

I think good for her! If you can make all that money cleaning your own house who the f*ck wouldn't!

But at the same time I don't know how people sit and watch the same thing EVERYDAY! Cleaning the same kitchen, hoovering the same floors... it is VERY BORING...

Sparklingbrook · 08/04/2019 18:05

I don't much care if it's calculated or not.

I quite like seeing what she's up to. None of it is groundbreaking, it's just light cleaning and none of the products she enthuses about are expensive. She seems to clean stuff that's already clean a lot so difficult to say if the products work.

Her dog is v cute. Her house is very tidy, and very grey. But we only see small snapshots of her day and I am guessing she does all the normal stuff everyone else does.

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 08/04/2019 18:10

I think we should be celebrating women being successful instead of finding ways to bring them down personally. Damn. Wish I could make her money by cleaning

Hollowvictory · 08/04/2019 18:14

I like her. Who cares if she hoped for success all along, who doesn't? What's wrong with that. She is harmless and likeable, what's the issue?

AwdBovril · 08/04/2019 18:14

I don't care if it's calculated, planned etc. She's obviously doing well, good for her, I say. Irrelevant whether it's my cup of tea or not, TBH. If people want to follow her, if she helps them feel more in control of getting or keeping their houses clean, & that makes them happy, great. I don't get the drama.

CutSomeRug · 08/04/2019 18:15

It was a well planned marketing strategy from the get/go which has been very successful.

I have questions around the long term safety of the use of lots of highly fragranced used at such a high frequency in the home. There are studies linking certain fragrance compounds to skin & respiratory irritation. Plus the issues around mixing cleaning chemicals and inadvertently poisoning yourself (eg by creating chlorine gas when mixing loo cleaners with bleach products).

JPK1510 · 08/04/2019 18:15

It’s not bringing them down it’s having an opinion haha

I like her in general but it is all very calculated but good on her I guess

OP posts:
Hollowvictory · 08/04/2019 18:15

Link please to 'articles she paid for' I just don't believe it sorry. That's not how it happens.

JPK1510 · 08/04/2019 18:16

I read the other day that zoflora can effect fertility and all sorts!

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 08/04/2019 18:16

I have to say that Pink Stuff is very good. Also the Elbow Grease spray.

Can't get into Zoflora or Febreze though, the smell is too strong.

NannyPear · 08/04/2019 18:16

If it truly was all calculated and set up... Then bloody good for her! Isn't that what business people do? Personally I think she comes across as very likeable and down to earth.

IntoValhalla · 08/04/2019 18:18

I can’t really say I have much of an opinion on her.
But there’s one thing that has always irked me a little (in a lighthearted way!) - She has all these amazing cleaning hacks, an absolutely pristine home without a speck of dust, or a scatter cushion out of place....and then I remember that she doesn’t have an army of tiny humans running around the place destroying everything in their wake everyday Grin
I see some standards being lowered a little when Baby Hinch arrives!!

NoCauseRebel · 08/04/2019 18:18

So what if she planned it. If she loves cleaning and makes a living out of suggestions then fair play to her.

Personally there is nothing in the world which could make me become a lover of cleaning so if someone else loves it then crack on I say.

CutSomeRug · 08/04/2019 18:19

She’s done well getting the book out nice and early though. I think her 15 minutes is on the wane, so it makes sense to make hay whilst the sun shines.

dudsville · 08/04/2019 18:19

I would open this question up to include everyone within this genre. I've heard that cleanliness is a middle class thing. I'm middle class and I'd certainly say I'm houseproud, HOWEVER, I learned all I need to know growing up from my mother. Hinch, and Kondo et al., are all playing right into our cleanliness obsessed hearts, but I don't personally follow any of them.

LimeKiwi · 08/04/2019 18:19

Exactly, @IvanaPee! The amount of stuff people come out with about her get all the more Confused Hmm lol.
I've heard of the followers claim by some as well on here but the growth has always looked completely organic to me - goes up a lot when she's on telly/threads on here/all the FB groups etc/articles

Hollowvictory · 08/04/2019 18:21

What do you mean by 'its all very calculated' op? And why is having a goal and a plan a bad thing!? It is incredibly hard dto build a following like that on o sta, give it a try you will see.

Hollowvictory · 08/04/2019 18:22

If zoflora impacts on fertility as op says, it's a wonder Mrs hinch is pg...

Sparklingbrook · 08/04/2019 18:22

Yes, I think now her book is out and with a baby due I think we may have reached peak Hinch, so she should make the most of it.

I hope she takes some time out when the baby arrives, unless we are going to be learning top tips for stain removal, but she seems sensible.

LimeKiwi · 08/04/2019 18:23

She is harmless and likeable, what's the issue?

She comes across as lovely and down to earth, and can laugh at herself (great sense of humour)
I honestly don't get the amount of shit she gets on here and elsewhere - I mean she's harming no-one.
