If this happened to you, what would you do and how would you react?

I emailed a complaint to the nursery manager 2 days ago and I haven't even had a reply

Nobody should be throwing shoes.

That's not an accident.

cookielove · 04/04/2019 17:35

What kind of shoe?

How old is your dd?

Why was she throwing the shoe?

Samind · 04/04/2019 17:35

Well accidentally would obviously mean no intention.... Was it a careless or avoidable incident?

BlackCatSleeping · 04/04/2019 17:36

How do you accidentally throw a shoe?

Samind · 04/04/2019 17:36

Also I'd be finding out what their complaints policy is to see if they're up to speed

7circlemats · 04/04/2019 17:37

There is no where near enough information in your post.

mclaleli · 04/04/2019 17:37

Context?

You said it was an accident, how do you come to accidentally throw a shoe?

RaffertyFair · 04/04/2019 17:39

Do you mean your dd was accidentally hit on the head by a shoe thrown by her key worker?

What were you told?

sidesplittinglol · 04/04/2019 17:40

In the email I sent I said I wanted to know why an accident form wasn't filled out and I also asked for their accident policy. Yesterday (day after accident and day after I had emailed) they wrote up a form and sent it home. It said the keyworker under arm threw the shoe on the floor as it was on the table and it hit my DD's head.

I’d want an acknowledgement of my email and a copy of the accident reporting form they had filled in.
No adult should be throwing shoes around in a childcare setting.

RaffertyFair · 04/04/2019 17:41

I could imagine a situation perhaps where a child had taken their shoes off leaving them in the way of children playing and staff member threw them to the side of the room....?

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 04/04/2019 17:41

You can't accidently throw something.

Either a shoe was accidently dropped/fell on her head or dhe was assaulted.

You need to find out which.

Saucery · 04/04/2019 17:41

X post. Was there a mark on your DD?

ApolloandDaphne · 04/04/2019 17:41

Was she tossing the shoe in her general direction so she could out it on and it hit her? Was she hurt or injured?

MamaLovesMango · 04/04/2019 17:43

There isn’t really enoug context to form an opinion. Was DC hurt? I guess the key word here is ‘accidentally’ as in, there was no malicious intent. It’s not the most sensible thing to do but if there’s no harm done and it wasn’t done on purpose, I can’t say I’d be that particularly het up about it.

ApolloandDaphne · 04/04/2019 17:43

X post. So the shoe was somewhere it shouldn't have been and she lobbed it out the way and it accidentally hit her?

To be honest that wouldn't bother me. It could happen at home too.

RaffertyFair · 04/04/2019 17:44

You're still missing out how you found out in the first place?

sidesplittinglol · 04/04/2019 17:49

Sorry for not giving enough detail. I've a migraine today and I'm obviously not thinking!

So the key worker told my husband this when he collected. There wasn't a mark on her head and on the form it doesn't say the exact location.

OP posts:
WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 04/04/2019 17:49

was it a child's shoe? She was, carelessly to be sure, tidying away a stray shoe? In which case, it was an accident, yes, a form should have been filled out but it's not the end of the world.

seven201 · 04/04/2019 17:49

Is she actually hurt? By your description it sounds like a short and soft kind of Chuck with a small person's little shoe. I can't imagine that causing any damage, more of just a shock to your daughter.

sidesplittinglol · 04/04/2019 17:50

It was another child's shoe he had seen on the table and threw it across on to the floor but it hit my DD instead.

OP posts:
MamaLovesMango · 04/04/2019 17:51

Then, with that further info, o wouldn’t be bothered at all. Call me a mean Mum but there’s not a lot to complain about there. You’ve had 2 explanations of what happened now and she’s not hurt or has a mark/bruise.

Hope your migraine shifts soon Flowers

ApolloandDaphne · 04/04/2019 17:51

As i understand the key worker threw the shoe as it was on the table - this shoe throwing was on purpose to move the shoe.

OP's DD was hit by the shoe which was accidental as the key worker was not aiming for her purposefully.

Accidents happen at home, at nursery, anywhere really. It is part and parcel of life.

Op hasn't said if her DD was injured in any way?

sidesplittinglol · 04/04/2019 17:52

In nurseries you always teach the kids not to throw for the very reason it could hit another child and hurt them. I don't think he was a good example of this.

ApolloandDaphne · 04/04/2019 17:52

Sorry i see now you say she was uninjured.

Let it go.
