Whatever flapjack recipe you make, swap out some of the sugar for really, really good black cherry jam, the sort with big lumps of cherry in it. Cherry flapjacks are AMAZING.

My basis is this one but I double (at least) the golden syrup and then add stuff.

My favourite version is with a few balls of ginger in syrup which I chop finely (and I use the syrup from the jar in the flapjack instead of golden syrup) and some dark chocolate - either chocolate drops or a couple of bars chopped into large pieces.

A mnet member *Soupdragon is always referred to on flapjack recipes.

Have a search for old threads and you'll find them - or she'll come along anyway as I think she's on here still. Apparently, condensed milk is the key.

Grrr...

Soupdragon

Have also done these with dried apricots instead of dates.

MerryTwinkletoes · 03/04/2019 22:59

I've made these a couple of times recently and love them!!

SneakyGremlins · 03/04/2019 23:02

Well I'm glad they're sulphur free Grin

If you see someone leaving your local Aldi with 10kg of oats tomorrow, give us a wave!

SoupDragon's recipe is really good. Thought I had it bookmarked but sadly I don't!

TildaKauskumholm · 03/04/2019 23:14

I use the Soupdragon one, 150g butter, 50g sugar, 2 tbs syrup, 275g oats 1/3 tin condensed milk. Bake at about 160 for no more than 15 minutes

Sixgeese · 04/04/2019 07:52

Made a quadruple batch of the Soupdragons flashback recipe for my DDs school bake sale today. I don't have it written down just Google 'Soupdragon Flapjack' each time I make it.

mumknowsbestapparently · 04/04/2019 08:00

Here we go

GabrielleNelson · 04/04/2019 08:05

Soupdragon's flapjacks are the business! I don't add any sugar as the condensed milk and syrup make them very sweet anyway. Ordinary flapjacks can be a bit prone to fall apart but the condensed milk holds everything together beautifully and adds a lovely flavour.

SoupDragon · 04/04/2019 08:09

As do I 😂😂

I also leave out the extra sugar shown in the screenshot earlier. It really isn't necessary.

I add about 100g of dark chocolate for chocolate ones (stir through with the oats)
Add ground ginger for a slight kick.
Seeds and raisins all work well.

SoupDragon · 04/04/2019 08:10

2 table spoons of syrup is about 75g by the way if you prefer to weigh it. It can be less messy.

SneakyGremlins · 04/04/2019 08:30

Thankyou so much SoupDragon! Have screenshotted that!

These are yummy but I Ignore the food processor bit I just melt the butter sugar &syrup in a pan then stir in the oats. Cut into sizes when you take them out of the oven but leave in the tin until cold. However I will now be trying out all the other recipes

SoupDragon · 04/04/2019 08:40

You can use honey instead of the syrup too.
