Ooooh, one more thing - does adding jam work if you're using condensed milk? Do I have the milk instead of the sugar?

SoupDragon, you legend! I’m carrying a few extra pounds because of your amazing recipe Wink

I am a Soupy flapjack evangelist, and proud of it Grin

Unashamedly placemarking sorry - I can vouch for soupdragon’s recipe though I keep losing it.

Tinseltrauma · 04/04/2019 10:14

Agree soupdragons recipe is fab. What does everyone do with the rest of the can of condensed milk?

SneakyGremlins · 04/04/2019 10:20

Triple the batch? Grin

I have had WI ladies begging me for the recipe when I made Soupdragons flapjacks for an event. I only make them at home when we are doing an endurance sport as they are so good you can't stop!

WipeYourFeetOnTheRhythmRug · 04/04/2019 10:40

Why do my flapjacks fall apart every time? What am I doing wrong?

To be fair I haven’t made Soup’s recipe. I have jumbo and quick cooking oats - which are best?

TildaKauskumholm · 04/04/2019 10:47

I now put the surplus condensed milk in the freezer if not needing for anything else - but was using to make Baileys over the winter.

SoupDragon · 04/04/2019 11:06

I freeze the other half of the can too.

In the interests of complete honesty, I found the original recipe via google in response to a MN post wanting one that had condensed milk in it like the small shop bought ones did. I can't find the original anymore but I made it many times, tweaking the recipe to my taste - the first was so sweet you could feel it rotting your teeth as you ate it!

mumknowsbestapparently · 04/04/2019 12:02

I just make two batches to use the tin upBlush

ginghamstarfish · 04/04/2019 12:06

I use a third of a tin ... found half was a bit too sweet.

dreamyflower · 04/04/2019 12:18

I'm not happy I found this thread. I'm on slimming world and now want @soupdragon flapjacks. Ahhh.

SomethingOnce · 04/04/2019 13:08

You so do, dreamy!

BiddyPop · 04/04/2019 13:24

I just do a double batch, bring some to work, send some to school/junior sailing/Cubs (or even all 3!), and have some at home.

Tinseltrauma · 04/04/2019 13:46

Thanks all - just bought a can from Tesco and will freeze the remainder. Tempted to make 'Conny- onny butties' like we had as kids though!

dreamyflower · 04/04/2019 19:05

I've just looked in my cupboard and there's a can of condensed milk... uh oh. Guess what I'm making tonight? Silly question but how do you freeze the other half?

RainbowFox · 04/04/2019 20:49

I found a can of condensed 'light' , found some golden syrup, and Demerara sugar. Clearly it was a sign so I quickly made a batch and now it's cooling down. Because I've used light condensed milk, this must mean I can eat double the quantity in one sitting without feeling guilty Smile

dreamyflower · 04/04/2019 23:34

@rainbowfox where did you find light condensed milk?! Totally means double!

RainbowFox · 04/04/2019 23:38

@dreamyflower I can't remember, i think the BBE date had 2016 on it Blush most likely Tesco, as I shop there most but we have pretty much every supermarket in our town and I've visited them all at some point! It was the proper carnation brand though.

SoupDragon · 05/04/2019 07:20

Silly question but how do you freeze the other half?

Tip it into a small Tupperware box :)

stucknoue · 05/04/2019 07:47

I use one third flour to 2/3 oats which makes them more chewy

Tinseltrauma · 05/04/2019 08:12

I got the light condensed milk in Tesco 😀
