How often do you go away on holidays and weekend breaks etc?

OP posts:
ShitAtScarbble · 31/03/2019 22:48

Why? Confused

Singlenotsingle · 31/03/2019 22:50

Three or four times a year.

whitershadeofpale · 31/03/2019 22:51

About 4 or 5 times a year for a few days, but that’s instead of a long holiday and we don’t have DC.

Mamabearx4 · 31/03/2019 22:52

Umm once in about 6 years

Hellywelly10 · 31/03/2019 22:53

Twice a year ish.

killpop · 31/03/2019 22:53

Typically 3 or 4 times a year

catinboots99 · 31/03/2019 22:54

@ShitAtScarbble what a wanky reply. Why does anybody ask random questions on MN?

If you don't want to contribute then just toddle off.

OP I aim for us as a family to have a 2wk summer hol. Usually package or Europ camping. Further afield and a bit more luxurious if we're going with my parents. My DCs are 9 and 19.

I would love to go skiing annually but it usually happens every other year. We have the odd weekend with family in various parts of the UK.

When I was younger and richer with previous DP we would do European city breaks 2/3 times a year, a long-haul summer break, yearly skiing and ad hoc trips away for destination weddings etc. Ah I miss those days but not that arsehole Grin

MrsPworkingmummy · 31/03/2019 22:54

We aim to have a family summer holiday (whether canping in Cornwall or a fortnight abroad ), at least 2 short camping holidays to The Lakes during the Easter holidays and May half term , and at least 1 no-children weekend away per year.

cornishpixue · 31/03/2019 22:54

Haven't been away since we got married 19 years ago. Holidays are expensive, and we've made a conscious decision not to bother as we can't afford it.

PersonaNonGarter · 31/03/2019 22:55

Abroad x 3 (2 weeks, one long weekend)

Couple of weekends but to friends and family in UK.

When the DC were younger we barely ever went anywhere.

BoswellsBollocks · 31/03/2019 22:57

We have maybe one night away once a year, either a seaside b&b with the dc or a hotel stay if there’s a family party to attend (family live in different towns)

Last proper holiday was 2015, a week in Somerset. Never been abroad or had a holiday that wasn’t in a caravan, bar our honeymoon which was 3 days in a holiday let in Scotland.

We’re really hoping to get a holiday abroad next year for my 40th, fingers crossed.

Murinae · 31/03/2019 23:04

I go away about 8-10 times a year. This year so far I have hotels in Krakow, Pathos, Hamburg, Dortmund Germany, centre Parcs in Holland, York, Schevingen in Holland and Coblenz booked. Don’t usually do long haul flights but lots of short haul ones.

RaininSummer · 31/03/2019 23:04

I don't really. Quick visit to London to see my daughter recently but otherwise not been away since a weekend away 6 years ago. Actual last holiday was around 20 years ago. Too expensive.

RebeccaWrongDaily · 31/03/2019 23:07

often, we have a holiday home- although i am never sure if that's actually classed as going away?

Going 'away away' We went to centerparcs in Jan, I went to Spain in Jan, we had a few days in Wales holiday home at half term in feb and have been once more since then, we'll also be spending part of easter hols there with various friends (will go and come back twice I think?)
We are going overseas for ten days at the end of May
We've nothing booked for summer hols, we've not decided, will likely spend most of it in our holhome, someone's suggested a swap (they have a place in Cornwall and we could go there?)
We are hoping to go somewhere hot in October. DH works in politics, and we've no idea if there will be an election called, which will dictate what happens really.
I am very lucky to work term time only and flexibly. I am currently exhausted and cannot wait to get away.

Youngandfree · 31/03/2019 23:08

In a few weeks we go away for 5 days without DC
I have 2 girly weekends booked (one spa, one city break)
We’ll probably go camping a few times with the Dc too.
Hoping the weather will be gorgeous again this year so not booked a sun holiday as of yet!

hopll · 31/03/2019 23:08

About 4 or 5 times a year. Center Parcs once or twice and abroad all the other times

Nnnnnineteen · 31/03/2019 23:16

As often as possible. It is my indulgence, so the money other people may spend on hair or clothes, hobby or house, I save like crazy and spend it all on time away. Even one night in a Travelodge somewhere different keeps me sane.

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 01/04/2019 02:01

Once a year. Can’t afford more. This year my husband and I are in France for two and a half weeks.

Expressedways · 01/04/2019 02:19

3 so far this year and we have at least 3 more on the cards. Our family live all over the world so most of our trips are to see various relatives, although we’re lucky that they live in good holiday places like NYC or the south of france. We typically take 1 immediate family only trip a year and it’s always bloody skiing.

Blankiefan · 01/04/2019 06:42

Usually 3 times a year. A week in summer somewhere sunny in summer, a week in centerparcs in spring (going today actually Grin) and a week somewhere in the UK in autumn.

Probably another long weekend somewhere citybreakish as opportunity arises.

SherlockSays · 01/04/2019 06:44

We have a static caravan so every other weekend and a little more than that in the summer. DH and I might have a night in a hotel once a year or so.

We go to Florida every other year.

SimonJT · 01/04/2019 06:49

About four times a year, usually long weekends somewhere as my son finds any longer a bit stressful.

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 01/04/2019 07:38

I usually have a couple of spa breaks a year with friends
Dh and myself get a night away alone maybe once a year
I go visit my adult daughter for a few days once a year (she lives away)
As a family we aim for a week away (sometimes abroad sometimes uk)
A few nights camping and a couple of weekends away in hotels.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 01/04/2019 07:40

One week UK holiday with kids and dh.
One week abroad just kids as th not interested.

carrie74 · 01/04/2019 08:16

Long haul as a family, once a year, short haul as a family, once a year. Centerparcs weekend, once a year, individual trips for DH and me separately, once or twice a year, other weekends away (eg camping), anything between once and 5 times a year.
