How often do you go away on holidays and weekend breaks etc?

Around 6/7 times a year if I'm including weekends away.
So far 1 x center parcs, midweek family visit abroad, a caravan for a few days is Scotland. Later this year a few days London, a music festival trip, 2 weeks France. Depending on the weather this summer, we'll hopefully go camping a few times.

missmouse101 · 01/04/2019 08:23

Never. Can't afford it and we don't like spending time together at the moment (marriage shaky and teens aren't interested in going away.) I'd love to go away on my own or with a friend. Sad

Nagsnovalballs · 01/04/2019 08:33

2-3 ski trips a year.
one long haul holiday (visiting family in Oz, or to SE Asia) plus one short haul (France/Spain/Italy).
2-3 uk camping trips
1-4 uk hotel trips (often attending friends’ weddings/christenings)

But we live in what’s known as a rough/cheap area in a 3-bed terrace and our mortgage is less than rent, haven’t bought new clothes in years (except ski gear!) and shop at Lidl eating a low/no meat diet.
We are a CEO and a lecturer but drive a little car worth a few k.
We’d rather spend our money travelling!

BitchQueen90 · 01/04/2019 09:19

Long haul once a year. Short haul once a year. Butlins once a year. Another UK break once a year. And on average 4 long weekends doing different city breaks in Europe.

We love to travel and prioritise it over most other things.

ClashCityRocker · 01/04/2019 09:20

One week long break in the UK, and three to four long weekends, also in the UK.

I get homesick after more than a week!

troppibambini · 01/04/2019 09:22

Twice a year with the kids. A week in May and a week in the summer, always somewhere sunny.
I would love to do more but since having four kids it's just too expensive, me and dh try and get a weekend away once a year but that's not going to happen this year as we aren't getting on and one of us would come back deadGrin

Hollowvictory · 01/04/2019 09:26

Every month.
Generally a 2 week holiday and 3 x 1 week holiday and then monthly weekends breaks

NotQuiteSlimJim · 01/04/2019 09:27

One 10 nighter abroad.

3/4 weekends away in UK

1 week camping trip UK

OhTheDramz · 01/04/2019 09:30

Easter 1 week in UK, Dorset this year but often Norfolk
Camping 3 nights in May with friends and their kids
Two weeks AI in summer
Often another camping weekend in summer but not every year
Weekend in UK just with DH around September time
Sprinkled through year are visits to DPs who live on the coast or my aunt who lives in Devon
We try and do this every year..... but next year we are going to Lapland in Dec and year after Florida so normal service won’t be resumed until 2022

PH03b3 · 01/04/2019 09:30

2 or 3 city breaks and a long haul usually.
Last year we did 3 city breaks a long haul and a short haul fly drive holiday.
We have 3 booked this year and more if i have my own way even just a night away in a city an hour or two away but i don't really call them going away.

flabbythighs · 01/04/2019 09:31

2x 2 week trip abroad
10- 12 As many as possible cheapy long weekends away uk (mostly) and abroad
5-8 days away abroad over Christmas ( to avoid Christmas )

Sunshine1239 · 01/04/2019 09:33

Skiing in feb
One week - usually Spanish island in July/aug
2-3 camping weekends
One adult night away locally

notacooldad · 01/04/2019 09:34

One long weekend off a month. We got back from Porto last night.
and 6 individual works throughout the year. I can extend my rest and toil days to get 11 days break.

Snog · 01/04/2019 09:51

Holidays are on hold for us for a while due to Uni costs.
Before that probably one week abroad and one or two European city breaks, plus a weekend or two in London.

fussychica · 01/04/2019 09:56

Retired so a lot. Until this year we had a long term rental in Spain and would go twice a year for 3 months at a time staying in various places on the way down and back plus a few weekend breaks to European cities. We have just given that up so this year a bit different. So far have booked

Portugal, western Algarve 11 days
Croatia 21 days
Spain a month
Will probably fit in something else later.

Cassimin · 01/04/2019 10:04

10-14 days in summer
7 days around Easter and usually a European city break.
I really prioritise holidays, my children love going away and I love experiencing new places and experiences with them. I’ve only got one young one now, but still try to get us all away at leat once a year.
I rarely go out at home and budget really well. We don’t have a high family income but manage to afford holidays by booking it separately myself.

Shopperami · 01/04/2019 16:55

Thanks everyone. Anyone else?

We've been together 17 years. We had a long weekend away locally at the start of our relationship & have since been abroad twice. Once being our honeymoon.

I have ocd so find going awsy very stressful so made a decision a few years ago to not bother. We enjoy days out instead.

notacooldad · 01/04/2019 17:45

mrsKipling
I understand why you dont want to go away and prefer days out but I can I ask, would you mind if your Dp had a holiday abroad without you?
I'm only asking as my friend us married and his husband is similar to you but my friend does live travelling. It caused some problems early on but they have come to an agreement now,

RussellSprout · 01/04/2019 21:14

One holiday (cheapie caravan this year) and maybe 2 city /overnight breaks without the kids per year, plus a festival or weekend away with the kids maybe a theme park or something.
