Things MN have taught me that I do that annoy people

There are lots of things I do that I had no idea were unreasonable until MN. So a selection are:

  • saying things - oh you have got your hands full, when a woman has 3 or more young kids she is trying to herd along,
  • sneezing loudly,
  • saying - My bad,
  • having a toilet brush by the toilet,
  • asking people with kids if they are planning to have any more,
  • asking people if they work, and if yes what do they do,
  • saying things like - oh someone isn't happy - at a screaming baby,
  • talking to people in bus queues,

I think I should stop now! I should probably just stay in the house and not talk to anyone from now on!!

I think people are a little over-sensitive at the 'Someone's not happy' remark, people said it to me when I had babies screaming blue murder, and always took it as a sympathetic comment. Not veiled sarcasm.

I knock on people’s doors without scheduling a week in advance. I also have cats that go outside.

TellerTuesday4EVA · 30/03/2019 17:27

Never met anyone that gets annoyed by a toilet brush by the toilet 🤷🏻‍♀️

As for the others.... yeah I'd give you 'The Look'

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 30/03/2019 17:28

"
you mean you show up unannounced?

I didn't think anyone did this till I joined MN"

Well not just anyone but on here you see people having a nervous breakdown of their own parents appear unexpectedly and are often told to go NC.

I still have a key to my parents' flat and just show up whenever I want!

clairemcnam · 30/03/2019 17:29

Really Teller?? Sounds like we would hate each other then.

TheHumbleHawthorn

You should namechange to ‘MN pariah’ for that!

clairemcnam · 30/03/2019 17:31

My parents complain about having to make an appointment to see my sister who lives literally around the corner from them. I feel the same actually. My parents neighbour just drops in on them and comes in for a coffee regularly.
I do think people on MN seem spectacularly anti social.

I do all those apart from talk to people in bus queues. I’m never in one.

I don’t usually answer the door if I’m not expecting anyone. That is weird by mn standards. And I don’t like popper inners.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 30/03/2019 17:33

Aha!

I have no issue with any of those.

Dogs off the lead I do have a problem with. As a child I was scared of dogs and one day a dog off the lead was running towards me and, being scared and a child, I ran away. Dog thought I was playing, chased me, knocked me over and was jumping all over me. I can still remember how petrified I was. My fear of dogs was 10 times worse after that.

None of these would bother me apart from randomly trying to engage me in conversation about inane shit, it wouldn't annoy me if it was a couple of comments, like I'm sick of the bus being late or something, but if you proceeded to try to make it a full blown conversation I'd probably wish you'd just sod off and bother someone else. 🤣

Zoflorabore · 30/03/2019 17:37

I smoke. I iron pretty much everything.

Off to Net Huns I go....

thebeesknees123 · 30/03/2019 17:38

I probably eat too loudly
I get in people's way
My kids can be cheeky/rude
I eat the last whatever it is if people are doing the polite 'you first' thing
I can't park for toffee
I use up my change in shops
I work in a shop and do the notes and change the wrong way round, sometimes scan too fast or make/don't make conversation
I hate anyone who isn't family shitting in my loo

clairemcnam · 30/03/2019 17:39

I iron lots of things too. But I dont smoke.

ginghambox · 30/03/2019 17:39

I smoke, hate prosecco , hate gin , hate tea and voted leave ( which only annoys the usual arseholes on MN)

Aardvarkitsabloodyaardvark · 30/03/2019 17:39

With the dogs off lead the problem is that lots of people don't want your dog annoying them. Very selfish in my opinion as I have a reactive dog which I need to keep on a lead because of people with their 'friendly' dogs.

Just to clarify I'm no longer scared of dogs, not a "dog person" by any means but they don't scare me. But every time I see a dog off the lead I feel sorry for any kids (or adults actually) that are scared of dogs that might be around.

clairemcnam · 30/03/2019 17:46

I love dogs. All the dogs I meet on walks are well trained and leave me alone, I really want them to approach me for a pet.

I'm sometimes late for things.

SockQueen · 30/03/2019 17:52

Can't stand "only playing" dogs off lead. Fine to be off lead if they're well-controlled, but I have no interest in interacting with your creature. I'm not really scared of them for me any more, but have now transferred my fear onto toddler DS and that they're going to knock over/bite/eat him.

Susanna30 · 30/03/2019 17:57

Things that I had no idea people would do until MN...

  • turning up at peoples houses uninvited / unannounced & staying for hours.
  • going to shops and instead of using a basket, using your own backpack, zipping it up and then being surprised when staff assume you're shop lifting.
  • Arranging meetings with headteachers and writing to oftsted when they can't accept their child doesn't behave like an angel at school and got told off a little bit.
  • parking over other people's driveways, if there's no car parked on the drive, it's no problem!
