What's your dream job?

I don't like my job, but the benefits of staying far outweigh the benefits of leaving for somewhere similar. Changing career entirely appeals greatly, but is too much of a risk financially (single mum with an over ambitious mortgage.)

So... just for fun, I'm asking you all to just spill out a whole load of other jobs so I can live vicariously through the idea of ditching my current job and doing something completely different.

Dream jobs, actual jobs, things you just think might be interesting. I wanna hear them all!

Solicitor with own firm.

NorthEndGal · 27/03/2019 21:20

I make and sell art, from my beachcombing finds.
I get to spend ages on the beach, and then crafting on piece.
Then I get to talk about it with other people as crazy as meGrin
Pretty much couldn't get better, unless I was making more dosh, haha

I have my dream job. I'm a senior executive in consulting. Drives me fucking bonkers half of the time - but the other half is so over the top awesome that I average out at just about "brilliant".

chocolatelog · 27/03/2019 21:20

Always wanted to be a midwife. Instead I just had lots of kids 🙄

I currently work in IT support/development, to answer my own question, and am definitely reaching burn out.

Ideal job would be something less developer-y and a little more laid back. Not necessarily even in computing. I would love to make/grow things and sell things. Or even skipping the creative side and just selling things in a little independent shop.

I used to want to play video games for a living, but I don't think I could keep up the enthusiastic commentary!

I'd like to work in a small company of like-minded geeks, doing something geeky, or worthwhile. Definitely not on my own, although some time working from home would be fine.

madroid · 28/03/2019 05:50

Owning a shop means working in the same four walls every day and being polite to everyone who tries to take the.mick who walks through the door. It's not all it's cracked up to be!

madroid · 28/03/2019 05:52

On the plus side I would like Monty Don's job. All the nice bits of gardening with a minion to do the menial boring bits. And mega bucks pay.

Mailfuckoff · 28/03/2019 05:57

RAdio presenter with guest stars on panel shows. I can't really act but I love music and talking. I'm an accountant and facing burnout at the moment

Happynow001 · 28/03/2019 06:20

If like David Attenborough's job. What a lovely life! He's been going it for decades and just seems to love it more and more! He seems to have an increasing zest for life! 🦋🦑🐬🦍

MechaStreisand · 28/03/2019 06:41

I've always wanted to be a Dr. A GP or a specialist in microbiology and strange diseases.

However, whilst I would love to study medicine, in real life I'd never cope with the responsibility, stress, workload, politics and difficult patients once I'd qualified!

Reddragonqueen · 28/03/2019 06:53
