Sitting in a pub by yourself

I'm currently sat in a pub around the corner from my DS' school, with a coke, on my own. I'm getting odd looks...have I broke some unwritten pub rule??

Why are you getting odd looks?

Not sure...I thought it's because I'm on my own?!

I sometimes go to a quiet pub on my own and have a glass of wine and read a book. It's bliss.

I do that but it depends on the pub.

By do that I mean get a drink or food on my own - usually if out shopping or after the gym.

I see older men in pubs nursing a pint on their own all the time (or used to before DD was born 5 months ago!) Not often women though. If you are the latter, that doesn't warrant strange looks though! It was just an observation

I do that all the time! And I have a glass of wine not a coke. Men always have a beer by themselves why is it different?

Before anyone has a go at me I was in abusive relationships for years untill I met my now lovely DH and within a few years of us getting together I got seriously ill(nearly died)and became disabled.

My kids do an activity at night and I don't drive so I do the same as you. Had some funny looks from customers but staff are great.

Do it! I used to have a vodka and coke in the sun in the summer when I turned 18 on my own at my local Wetherspoons before going and getting a new piercing 😂😂 I was so badass.

Depends on the pub in my experience.

Some pubs see no other custom but regulars who know everyone, some pubs have no regulars and no one knows any one.
so it may be you've walked in to a regulars type place.

Sat in a pub loads of times by myself before, enjoy!
I really don't think people notice or care - if they do I must be oblivious lol.
If so I think it's less to do with being by yourself and more to do with walking into a Royston Vasey type pub - "Are you local?"

I love going to the pub on my own.

One Friday night, when I was determined out out-stay-out my ex (who was acting like an entitled shit and knew it), I went to a local bar/lounge place and had a 3 course meal and a couple of drinks while I people watched and/or read my book. It was nice enough there, but not nice due to the circs, IYSWIM?

I got home well after him and he never once asked me where I'd been, but a number of little things he'd been glibly assuming I'd have done for him (normally no problem) were also magically done without a murmur too.

Tbf it was the beginning of the end of us, but I would do it again.

Never done it apart from a Premier Inn. But nothing wrong with it!

I'm currently sitting in a pub on my own. Picked up DH from the station and he has an appt opposite the pub. My parents have the DCs so am taken advantage and enjoying a 3 gin and tonics and some Mumsnet.

Am hoping his appt runs over

God, this sounds like utter bliss.

But then I'm 7 months pregnant and have been stuck with a teething and demanding toddler who's had 649375939 meltdowns over nothing today.

Be careful in pubs on your own, that's how I met my husband! Kind of regretting it now.

Seriously though, I used to love it on my own. The cinema is good solo too, I'm envious, enjoy!
