Savoury croissant - grim. Anything else I should avoid?

Why oh why would you put eggs and spinach in a croissant? Avoided that sort of thing my entire life and now I know why. Croissants are to be eaten plain with a coffee or if you are a child then simply with jam. End of.
So on that note are there any other foods that seem like a thing that really shouldn't be and which we should avoid?

Curry with dried fruit, coconut, apricot, plantain/banana - oh yes! Fruit bread and toast - yes! Croissants make very good homes for fried bacon!

I really like cheese scones, but have entirely no idea what to eat them with (except soup). Not helped by the fact I hate butter.

Something I don't get though is cross-over baked goods - Duffins (muffin / donut); cronut (croissant / donut); cruffin (you get the idea). Briefly (?) popular in many chain coffee stores, but not a good thing. Just odd, and not in a respect-the-inventiveness way.

Cheese with bits in, cranberries etc. Absolutely revolting.
And then there's that "Mexican" cheese thar looks like vomit, why, just why?

Before we moved area there was a great cafe that did a cream cheese, naice ham and (tinned) peach croissant that was absolutely gorgeous.

Also did an amazing chicken lasagne (chunks, not mince) which got me into eating lasagne as never used to like it.

They were the two main things I'd order there. Dh reminded me about the croissant recently and I've been thinking about trying to recreate it at home, hopefully it will be just as nice homemade.

But I can't stand sandwiches with ham and normal cheese, yet so many people seem to like them.

I really want a mushroom and blue cheese croissant now. Right now.

Pinkarsedfly · 20/03/2019 17:00

Bread and butter pudding made with chocolate croissants is 👌🏻

isseywithcats · 20/03/2019 17:03

bacon and melted brie in a croissant is divine

Meet0nTheledge · 20/03/2019 17:04

But croissants are a savoury pastry. A cheese and ham croissant is a thing of joy. Jam on a croissant, horrible, why would you do that?

Cuch · 20/03/2019 17:07

I adore savoury croissants.

I hate ice cream with anything biscuity swirled into it. I also dislike chocolate bits in ice cream because they don’t rate chocolates when they’re so cold, they just add a gritty texture and nothing else.

Ooooh ham & cheese croissant from the stall in Euston station are yummy. Can't remember what it's called. The cheese is a bit like melted Philadelphia. Not had one for years as I no longer commute via London.

Avocado on toast Hmm

Croissant with tuna, apple and walnut - whats not to like?

maslinpan · 20/03/2019 17:50

Croissant and tuna?? God no!

Amortentia · 20/03/2019 17:55

A chees, ham and jalapeño croissant is amazing. I much prefer savoury and spicy to sweet. 😋

butteryellow · 20/03/2019 18:00

All Butter Croissant, with crispy bacon.

It is like a bacon butty, but even better.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 20/03/2019 18:09

I've never had a savoury croissant and now I want one!

Grumpbum123 · 20/03/2019 18:18

Victoria sponge in most cafes is terrible

TwistedAnkle · 20/03/2019 19:04

Thehorse are you adding some salt and a squeeze of lime juice to the avocado? On sourdough- bloody gorgeous!

spanishwife · 20/03/2019 19:21

Croissants are to be eaten plain with a coffee or if you are a child then simply with jam

Oh shit.. what else should I have stopped eating decades ago?

spanishwife · 20/03/2019 19:22

Avo toast, squeeze of lime, crumble of feta.. heavenly!

3out · 20/03/2019 19:22

I looooove savoury croissants! So much nicer than bread

MitziK · 20/03/2019 19:25

You're all heathens!

Dried fruit in cakes is essential. But you do have to give them a damn good soak in a strong brew first. Can't be doing with the baking shit in a massive catering tray like you're making school puddings business. Too sweet.

procrastinatingtoday · 20/03/2019 19:25

fish in fish & chips - perfectly nice piece of fish ruined by batter & deep-frying!

ataleoftwothenthreethenfour · 20/03/2019 19:27

Any croissant with any savoury crap in it is an utter travesty. But the croissant in itself would probably have been horrible, so in a sense, no loss.

Chickenwing · 20/03/2019 19:56

Croissants should have nutella on. Nothing savoury!

DailyMailFuckRightOff · 20/03/2019 19:59

Dead grapes 😂😂

Artichokes. Awful. Amelie was wrong when she said ‘even artichokes have a heart’. They don’t.
