Would you rather go to Bath or Cardiff for the day?

My French lodger is going to stay in Bristol for two nights with friends. On a limited budget they are arguing over whether to go to Bath or Cardiff for the day. I dont know either of these places. Any thoughts please?

Depends what you want to do? Shopping I would go to Cardiff but touristy stuff I would go to Bath. We live in bath and tend to spend our family days away from the city!

Bath is more of a tourist destination, Cardiff will be cheaper (and I personally prefer it!)

Never been to Cardiff, although my boss is based there.

Went to Bath last year for first time and loved it

Bath for the Costume museum and architecture.
Cardiff for the castle and shopping.

I think I'd choose Cardiff; too many tourists dithering around in Bath.

Bath, for the spa (it gets short shift on here but I like it, you need to get there early though), nice pottering shopping, beautiful architecture, pulteney weir.

Cardiff for the free museums, gallery, more chain shopping in saint davids but the arcades are great.

On a budget I'd say Cardiff.

If they are only there for two nights I’d probably just stay in Bristol to be honest! Plenty there to keep them busy.

Bath but then I don't live too far from Cardiff.
As a tourist destination I would say Bath.

Although if they go to Cardiff they will have visited both Wales and England!

Bath. Some fab little shops and restaurants.

I find Cardiff a little soulless to be honest. All chain shops and chain restaurants.

Have been to both. Bath was lovely and touristy. Cardiff was nice enough.
