If you found out you were pregnant far into pregnancy

how many weeks were you? Why didn't you suspect?
Found out yesterday I'm to be a Granny in June. Dd has had repeated negative tests and "periods" throughout. She only went to GP after I nagged her about her growing belly she has had no symptoms. Wondered how common it is to find out late as for me morning sickness started the day my period was due so no mistaking it.

DD was 12 weeks, had to be rushed for a dating scan. I hadn't had a period but with 2 under 2s I was too busy to notice.

Figmentofimagination · 19/03/2019 13:32

I used to work with someone who didn't know till she went into labour. Thought she had appendicitis. She didn't get a noticeable bump.

Raera · 19/03/2019 13:40

Congratulations Granny! Is this your first?

My friend found out she was in labour when she went to A &E in the middle of the night with severe back pain.

pumpastrotter · 19/03/2019 13:53

I wasn't known about until about 25 weeks, doctors thought I was a bad UTI Hmm I was number 7 so god knows how she didn't recognise it.

I know someone who supposedly didn't know she was pregnant until she went into labour, not sure I believe it though as there were rumours swirling around the time she got pregnant which were denied, but she carried on taking drugs and partying throughout...that being said she certainly didn't look it but the baby was tiny. You hear about it happening all the time but it genuinely baffles me.

picklemepopcorn · 19/03/2019 13:53

A neighbour found out when she went into labour. No one else suspected anything, either. No bump.

IHaveBrilloHair · 19/03/2019 13:54

19 weeks, no symptoms at all, had a mirena and was a size 8.

fleshmarketclose · 19/03/2019 14:03

Dd is 26 weeks and still in size six clothes but there is a definite bump although only I seemed to notice it.

My mum was told I was the menopause until 6 weeks before I was born! She was 46, I was her first (only) baby, and her GP said 'It's your age' and sent her away. She had a tiny bump for most of her pregnancy and attributed all her other symptoms to 'the change' until she started looking like a battleship in full sail, at which point the GP declared 'I think it's a babby!'

tessiegirl · 19/03/2019 14:16

My mum found out she was pregnant with me at 6 months. She was 18 and still fitting into size 10 clothes.
She and my nan found out on the Friday and by the Monday her bump had popped out. Apparently it's psychological and not knowing you are pregnant can mean no bump...

TheCanyon · 19/03/2019 14:16

I was 26+4. Went to the dr about heartburn Blush

Soubriquet · 19/03/2019 14:20

Someone on here found out she was pregnant quite late. Can’t remember how late but it was too late for a termination.

Poor thing was shocked to hell

BurrSir · 19/03/2019 14:29

10.5 weeks. Was the shock of my life. All worked out for the best in the end. Found out at a scan!

Tinty · 19/03/2019 14:30

I found out at 19 weeks Blush.

I had very sporadic periods and had two whilst pregnant (or so I thought), I had no bump my tummy was as flat as a pancake at 19 weeks, I also didn't have any symptoms except being tired. I had a scan and expected to be told that I was about 8 weeks and they told me I was 19 weeks. Shock

fleshmarketclose · 19/03/2019 14:31

Tessie I was at school with a girl who got pregnant and although she knew hadn't told anyone until 36 weeks. She seemed to go from not noticeably pregnant to very obviously almost due pregnant over the course of a week.

I was 25 weeks with DS1 - went to docs with what I thought might be appendicitis. She had a feel and felt a baby instead 👍🏻

DS2 I knew at 5 weeks. Longest fucking pregnancy EVER!

ThatFalseEquivalenceTho · 19/03/2019 14:39

21-22 weeks ish.

On the Pill so no periods. I was a skinny teenager and had no weight gain and no bump. No symptoms at all.

I went to the GP as I thought my IBS was getting worse (increased pain) and wanted to change meds.

He examined me. Asked whether I knew if the baby was a boy or a girl. I was like Shock WAT Blush

The whole thing was pretty traumatic to be honest.

Japonicaflower2 · 19/03/2019 14:40

A receptionist at the surgery was an emergency admission from work wit 'kidney stones', had a 7lb 9oz daughter fifteen minutes after getting to A+E.
She said she was so shocked because still had periods, didn't gain weight and no symptoms whatsoever.

feska5 · 19/03/2019 14:52

I was 20 weeks with my first DD. Had normal periods. Only went to the doctor because I felt overwhelmingly tired. When he asked if I could be pregnant I laughed. We had been trying to conceive for 15 years. He did a test for me there and then. I almost fainted when it was positive. Happy memories!

hooverlines · 19/03/2019 14:55

Not happened to me but I can totally understand how it could. I only had an (extremely small) bump at 38 weeks (when DS was born). I was in size 8 clothes throughout and my boobs stuck out more than my stomach did so even when I did get a noticeable-ish bump you could never tell. To look at me you'd have though I'd eaten a big meal. The bump only showed when I was laid down on my back (which I never do). I had absolutely no symptoms what so ever and struggled to feel kicks throughout. Periods were always irregular and I was told it was hard for me to get pregnant. The only reason I knew I was pregnant was because I had had miscarriages and was actually trying for a baby so I was pregnancy tested, blood tested and scanned very early on. If I had got pregnant by accident I genuinely wouldn't have had a clue until I was ready to give birth.

Soubriquet · 19/03/2019 15:03

It’s odd thought isn’t it?

I wonder how you can still have periods but pregnant at the same time

Laiste · 19/03/2019 15:07

6 months along with DD1. 23

Went to docs because i twice fainted at work. It was a v.hot summer, I was doing a lot of lifting at work due to a stock room move, I was dieting hard, and wondering why i wasn't getting much slimmer and I was convinced i couldn't be preg. because i was on the pill and hadn't had a period for about a year.

cjt110 · 19/03/2019 15:09

I found out super early. I was 4 weeks.

I had a twinge that felt funny. I tested on 3rd December and it came up positive. On a clear blue it said 1-2 weeks. I had a bleed when we thought I was around 6 weeks. Booked in for an early scan at what we thought was 7+2 and I was dated at 8+4. So I was 4 weeks pregnant when I tested.

The remaining 31 weeks and 2 days... (Yes I went into labour on my due date) were a LONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG assed wait.

Soubriquet · 19/03/2019 15:11

My sister was 19 weeks though.

However she had the implant put in when she was around 6 weeks pregnant. She didn’t know she was pregnant and the doctors hadn’t tested before putting the implant in either

She had also been on roller coasters and rides at Alton Towers, drinking alcohol and just being her usual self.

Niece was born completely fine. She’s 8 this year
