If you found out you were pregnant far into pregnancy

how many weeks were you? Why didn't you suspect?
Found out yesterday I'm to be a Granny in June. Dd has had repeated negative tests and "periods" throughout. She only went to GP after I nagged her about her growing belly she has had no symptoms. Wondered how common it is to find out late as for me morning sickness started the day my period was due so no mistaking it.

My sister was 5 months with both, didn't have regular periods and no other signs

I found out at 20 weeks. Had 4 periods though they got lighter each time. I did put on a bit of weight and felt a bit nauseous but honestly the thought of being pregnant never crossed my mind until one day when I was driving to work and it suddenly hit me like a brick.

Two of my friends didn't know until labour started! One during uni poor thing, she was terrified. We just thought she'd put on some happy weight with her lovely boyfriend!

Once the birth was over she coped AMAZINGLY. Family stepped up and helped and she finished her degree ON TIME. I was in awe! We referred to her room as The Portland Sweet. I've never heard five young women (us housemates) swear so much in one night!

My favourite exchange when I got home was the following - not a swearing fan? Skip this...

Housemate: "Fuck fuck fuck omg (names) having a baby!"

Me: "what the FUCK! Oh fuck is she in hospital? We need to get there fucking NOW. Omg she must be so fucking scared" (break down in full sobbing worried about her as we all in shock we're trying to help but had no car etc- it took us just under a minute to remember 999!!!

Housemate: "I love you but I will fucking slap you if you freak out she is having a baby right NOW. Like in the house. In her room. She thought she needed a massive shit"

My poor ex boyfriend (he was only 19) time backed away when the word baby was mentioned. Then fully away when shit was mentioned 😂 bless him he was a really good lad actually. Been a lovely sad.

The other friend it happened to was in her early thirties, married and her husband is in the navy IIRC. No idea until the day that she was pregnant. She was taken straight to hospital and surrounded by loving support. Now my friend loves a practical joke so as husband was due back in two days so she decided to surprise him when he return...

to his new TWINS!!

He was AMAZING about it. Their family love the story and it's gorgeous as they were all so happy. And still are years later!

Both of my mates had periods throughout so HUGE shocks! Maybe it's more common that we think it is, to have have periods throughout (or whatever medical reason this is from an actual doctor!) were really lucky with strong support including pretty long term lovely boyfriend they got through the shock phase and could get excited quite quickly.

So two positive stories from me'

@MyKingdomForBrie I hope so!! They'd been trying for 14 years and had given up entirely, so they were over the moon once the terror had abated.

@spiderlight that's such an amazing story, I can't imagine how happy they were!

My 1st I found out @ 30w+ 5 days! Negative tests, periods throughout only when I went to the gp because my belly button had popped out! Doctor felt belly, sent me up for a scan as he thought I was about 20 weeks - wrong!
Congratulations to both your dd and you ☺
