I am at home with dd, just the two of us, and the weather is vile, so we need a Saturday afternoon film, and I am stumped...
She likes period dramas, eg Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Jane Eyre. She doesn’t like things that are violent, or frightening although recently enjoyed Lord of the Rings ( can’t watch the Hobbit today as that is saved for when we can all watch together).
Could be something old, doesn’t need to be current.

Thank you to all PPs who suggested Ballet Shoes. Just watched as our Saturday night film with DD10 DS6 and DH. We all loved it and they think I'm a fab picker of films 😀.

My dds loved Ballet Shoes too.

What about a good old glossy belting melodrama? All that heaven allows, imitation of life, double indemnity, Mildred pierce, spellbound, the postman always rings twice etc? I used to love watching films like that with my mum on a rainy Saturday.

Love these! Douglas Sirk melodramas and Margaret Lockwood swishing about being a Wicked Lady.

Now Voyager is great too. A good one for a mother and daughter to watch together Grin

Oh and Rebecca. That's the ultimate rainy afternoon film for me. Oh and The Lady Vanishes. And the 39 Steps. And...

Amalie
Adventures in Babysitting
The Princess Bride

Yes ! I watched The Lady Vanishes with my Dad at dd’s age. I also went to see the first version of the 39 steps in the local arthouse cinema for a friend’s 12th birthday. Felt very grown up !
