Dishwasher - Yay or Nay?

Do you regret your dishwasher or do you love it?

It's just DS10 and I and it feels like a bit of a luxury but I really want one.

Is this pure laziness?

Used to have one. Don't have one anymore. Don't miss it.

Meretricious · 15/03/2019 19:29

It makes me keener to cook as I can just chuck everything in. There’s two of us and it goes on most mornings.

Bringbackthestripes · 15/03/2019 19:30

I'm wondering if I'd have to run it everyday with just the two of us
3 of us, slimline dishwasher and we run it at least once a day, sometime twice. We have moved so when we replace it it will be full sized but we may need to buy more crockery so we don’t run out if we don’t have to run it so much.

If you only turn it in when it's full, you'll use less water then if you had hand washed all the stuff in it! It will give you more time to do anything other than chores. Do it!

ColeHawlins · 15/03/2019 19:52

Yay!

Weebitawks · 15/03/2019 19:55

Love love love love love. I hate any crockery on the side. Pop it in the dishwasher and forget about it till it's full. I put it on over night and it takes 3 mins to unload in the morning while I'm making coffee.

I HATE washing up. More than anything. DH and I argue much less since we've had one.

Foxmuffin · 15/03/2019 19:56

Yay!

EspressoPatronum · 15/03/2019 19:58

We got our dishwasher 3 years ago just before ds was born. I had been coveting one for years but never had space before we moved.

I will never ever be without one again!

Fundays12 · 15/03/2019 19:58

Yes I love mine

Userplusnumbers · 15/03/2019 20:01

Agree with all of this OP - life is too short to wash dishes by hand!

There's just two of us, probably run it every other day.

Valkarie · 15/03/2019 20:09

Go for slimline if you think you won't fill a regular one. We had one on holiday and was perfect size as we were cooking less.

ApplestheHare · 15/03/2019 20:11

Got one for the first time 4 years ago and it changed our lives. Love it!

Nanalisa60 · 15/03/2019 20:11

I just love my dishwasher!! Would it like to live without it!!

Tubbyinthehottub · 15/03/2019 20:14

I love them so much I have two Blush

bellsbuss · 15/03/2019 20:17

@Tubbyinthehottub I have 2 as well, I love it that when one is on you can start loading the other. In my defence I have a large family

Unescorted · 15/03/2019 20:18

Cheaper than a divorce lawyer - never not had one.

Celebelly · 15/03/2019 20:18

Yes, I couldn't cope without now. When there were two of us, we ran a load every second day usually (standard size dishwasher), and we are pretty profligate with our dishes and cups!

donajimena · 15/03/2019 20:18

I've got a compact one. I run it 3 times a week for 3 of us. I might have to wash a big pan but I'm a one pot kind of cook. I love it so much.

mommybear1 · 15/03/2019 20:19

Yay. Love it - probably far too reliant on it Grin

PinkieTuscadero · 15/03/2019 20:19

Does anyone regret buying a dishwasher? Confused

It's a kitchen appliance that makes life that bit easier.

Get one.

SallyWD · 15/03/2019 20:22

My husband wanted to get one and I just didn't see the point. Now we've had one for 10 years and I couldn't be without it. I love it!

macnab · 15/03/2019 20:26

Get one! You absolutely will not regret it. They are far more efficient nowadays and use less water than if you were washing up and rinsing by hand. You can bung stuff in as you go along and close the door on it. Your kitchen looks so much tidier! I would not do without one now.

Soontobe60 · 15/03/2019 20:27

I've jade one for 25 years. Now there are only 2 of us though, we only run it about every 3 or 4 days in the week, more at weekend. We have a new one and I haven't figured out how to do a quick rinse, so it can be a little bit smelly after 3 days in summer 🤣
