and won't be coming back except to pick up his tools tomorrow. Angry (Now I know why the last person I hired took so long - he was right to as his work was amazing.)
Question: Do I leave the paper up or rip it down? It's been up for about 2 hours now.
Yes I have already ordered new paper and am now looking for a professional. This one came with recommendations though, but jeez, I could cry it's that bad. Rips, misalignments, gaps, flaps ... I think I just have to laugh.

I’m having trouble imagining how bad it could possibly be.

Will this person be paying for the paper?

gamerchick · 14/03/2019 15:09

It would probably be easier to take it off before it dries properly.

Tractortod · 14/03/2019 15:11

Photos needed to judge.

ApolloandDaphne · 14/03/2019 15:12

Sends us pics!

Bluntness100 · 14/03/2019 15:12

If it just pulls off, take some pics and then just take it down, as it saves the next guy doing it,

Wallpapering is a skill, and I recently had some done by someone very experienced, and he brought someone else in to do the painting, and commented the other guy didn't do papering, that because it was out of fashio for so long, so many people simple don't have the skill now.

I did have one guy quote, but when I said I wanted to do papering too, he declined the job, due to uneven walls, beams, and heights, it was just too complex.

I sat and watched our guy at times, and it was absoltely a very skilled job.

My dad was a decorator and his wallpaper hanging was a work of art.

Prusik · 14/03/2019 15:15

Wallpapering is definitely an art form. DH once hung paper that was £1500 per roll for a customer Shock

Ok you get more.
This one's a corker, rip is eyeheight in a prominent place, the length of a pencil.
I was flabbergasted, speechless. Chap didn't comment and woosh he was gone.

Have you spoken to him ??

Pringlemunchers · 14/03/2019 15:30

Paid him ?

Hamsternauts · 14/03/2019 15:31

I recently hung two bits of lining paper in a room in my house to replace torn bits. It looks awful with bubbles etc. I pasted the wall then stuck it on which i don't think you are supposed to do. Grin

EntirelyAnonymised · 14/03/2019 15:34

hamster, some papers are ‘paste the wall’, others are ‘paste the paper’.

Knittedfairies · 14/03/2019 15:34

Prusik - wallpaper at £1500 per roll? Jeez...

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 14/03/2019 15:38

Taken lots of pics and pulled down everything that came off easily.
Good thing I'm absolutely made of money. Hmm

Emailed him to pick up his tools tomorrow and I will get another decorator because I'm not happy with the work.
Yup, payed for the 1st day. I don't want to fight him, just see the back of him. Live & learn.

OP posts:
Whatsnewpussyhat · 14/03/2019 15:42

Tell him you want your money back and money for replacement paper!

gamerchick · 14/03/2019 15:49

That's it? The cutting in is fine, it just needed a bit of paste under the dry corner Confused

Why is it furry? Is that the fashion these days.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 14/03/2019 15:50

I should but so much else going on in life atm I just dont' have the energy for confrontation ... or do I? I just want to see the back of the smarmy old fucker.
Should I take a hairdryer to the stuff he did first, that I can't pull off easily?

OP posts:
gamerchick · 14/03/2019 15:51

Yeah rips no good, not for someone else. He should have binned that strip off and done another one.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 14/03/2019 15:52

gamerchick there's lots more, for example the big rip I also posted. And many other rips and tears. And misalignments.

OP posts:
VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 14/03/2019 15:52

I know, why didn't he just do that? Jeez.

OP posts:
VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 14/03/2019 15:53

So, hairdryer?

OP posts:
WFTisgoingoninmyhead · 14/03/2019 15:53

I would leave it all to the next decorator you hit to do it properly. You will have to wait along time for a good decorator to have time to do it, that is how you know they are good at it, they have a full diary.

gamerchick · 14/03/2019 15:54

It's no good in someone else's house. I ripped a strip today but as it's my house and I didn't really have the extra paper to bin it, I've just mentally hung a picture over it Grin
