Seeking Hand Hold/ Reassurance!

34+1 have been admitted to antenatal ward as suspected I am in early labour. IVF baby (not sure if relevant!). DH has had to go home and I feel anxious as I am not sure what to expect now.
The monitoring machine is reporting contraction type tightenings and I do feel some discomfort but I don’t feel like I need any pain relief.
Does anyone have any similar stories they can share or even just a hand hold really. I am fortunate that I have never had an overnight hospital stay so I feel anxious.

Is DH back now?

Codine makes me feel really sick, bring on the gas I say!!

Had some codeine and my app is telling me my surges/ contractions are 2-3 mins apart.
This is sheer fuckery! How do women manage?! Trying not to be the ultimate wimp so MW has run a bath which is helping to an extent.
DH is here and I am letting him nap whilst I bathe. I can’t sleep so one of us might as well.

@hospitalbag my mucus plug came away a few days ago and had been accompanied by niggling period pain and some backache.

I was not expecting this at all!

Thank you all for keeping me company, I really appreciate it x

Good luck OP. You've got this x

Graphista · 14/03/2019 03:02

Ask about light if you have to leave it on ask for a an eyemask or something you can use as one (bandage, surgical stocking tied round) (if you've any chance of sleep that is)

I know someone who had their baby at 25 weeks, much worry at the time, boy is now a strapping 13 year old who loves playing rugby!

MidnightLavender · 14/03/2019 03:20

Coincidentally I was born at 34+1!
The bath is not particularly touching the pain.

How are things going?
Don't be afraid to ask for more pain relief. It's not being a wimp and bow is not the time to try and power through!

You got this! Hope all is ok xx

ninibear · 14/03/2019 08:13

Hope things are going okay!

You're not a wimp at all. You can do this and there's no harm in getting all the pain relief you want!

Marlena1 · 14/03/2019 08:18

Hello all, pleased to report that DD was born this morning at 10am. In the end I had to have an epesiotomy and forceps because she was stuck. The pain made me think I was going to die and then I had a spinal which oh my gosh was amazing.
Very sore now and tired. She was 5.3lbs which I think is good for a 34 weeker!
Thank you for all of your support xxxx
