Thoughts? I personally wouldn't have even noticed what she was wearing, she looks nice and it's not like she's parading round in a thong and nipple tassels!

It should also have been done as discreetly as possible

To be fair there's nothing to suggest she wasn't asked discreetly at first. But she flatly refused to do as asked andeven stood up asking other passengers for their opinions, etc. Obviously discretion wasn't something she was worried about.

EnidButton · 13/03/2019 23:28

She's wearing a bra. Just put a hoody on lass. What a fuss.

I've seen women around her age wearing those bralette things to go shopping and it does stand out. In the same way a bloke strolling through the Trafford Centre in speedos would look odd.

NorthernBullet · 14/03/2019 00:19

But the only bit of 'flesh' that could possibly 'spill over' from this outfit is arm flesh... should everyone cover their arms on flights?

Seems attention seeking. She must have been bloody freezing in Birmingham. Also she can’t have been that upset as she wore the same outfit on the way home so clearly trying to prove a point rather than learning her lesson and packing a cardie.

MidniteScribbler · 14/03/2019 03:47

"The worst experience of her life". Must live a sheltered bloody life then.

It's underwear. Cover it up.

fourquenelles · 14/03/2019 09:15

should everyone cover their arms on flights?

Morbid alert. I used to fly a lot for work back in the day, mostly long haul. A very experienced colleague advised me to wear natural fibre, long sleeved tops and full length trousers (and walking type shoes/boots). In the very unlikely event of anything going wrong my clothes would offer a little protection and wouldn't melt onto my body. The boots were to help a quick get away over broken glass and worse.

Yes, I am one of the ones that pays very careful attention to the safety talk on flights.

HotpotLawyer · 14/03/2019 09:26

I think it is antisocial of en or women to have their bare skin up against the seats. The side view of that top shoes that it has no more back to it than a skimpy bra does. I don’t think topless men or bra-wearing women should be rubbing their sweat, lotion and skin cells on the seats.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 14/03/2019 09:50

So if this is just about barely covering clothing what's the age limit? My 10 year old is a Human Radiator and wears tiny shorts and tops to fly in occasionally popping on a hoody to land.

Or Mr and Mrs Average flying in their sweaters but quite small shorts which >horror < probably leave a nice sweat film on the seat.

I agree that it sounds like she should have put a layer on when it became evident the flight could be delayed.

But let's not pretend it's all about rubbing against another persons skin or sitting on another persons secretions. She wasn't trying to enter the Sistene Chapel FGS.

Most of the outrage on here is because she's a woman and she shout cover up I case somebody nearly sees a bit of boob.

havingtochangeusernameagain · 14/03/2019 10:43

I had no idea that airlines have dress codes. In that case they need to be a bit stricter about them!

But a young woman, yeah fair game to be bullied. They wouldn't have had a go at a 6 foot bloke without a shirt on.

I do think she should have worn a proper top though. The picture I saw of her outfit: it did appear to be a bra. Not a crop top. Planes can be really cold.

qazxc · 14/03/2019 15:32

They wouldn't have had a go at a 6 foot bloke without a shirt on. I bloody hope they would! getting on a flight with no top on is definitely unsuitable attire no matter what gender you are.

Jasmineallenestate · 14/03/2019 15:41

It was a shitty charter flight full of like minded people, hardly Emirates.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 14/03/2019 15:49

I wouldn't give a fuck if she was wearing underwear. This isn't Afghanistan, people can wear what they want. As it is I think she looks fine.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 14/03/2019 16:05

As my DM would say with a sniff “she got her name in the newspapers”

EnchantingRaven · 14/03/2019 16:08

I wouldn’t have battered an eyelid either if I seen her getting on the plane. I quite like the outfit & she hasn’t got her arse hanging out (which I’ve seen before funnily enough on a plane) or nips showing.

Personally if I was wearing it I would have just put my jacket on especially if it was at hand however, I don’t think she deserves the hate as she’s dressed fine.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 14/03/2019 16:10

I saw a clip of her earlier on This Morning. I can’t believe the fuss surrounding this. I’ve seen women and teenage girls boarding planes from countries like Greece and Spain wearing bikini tops and shorts. Didn’t bat an eyelid.

Was she leaving the UK or abroad?

excitedtobehere · 14/03/2019 16:12

A cynical person might suggest she was 'shaken and upset' for the benefit of her future law suit against the airline. She was dressed inappropriately for a flight. They asked her to put on a cardigan. She should get over it.

Graziass · 14/03/2019 16:13

I imagine the guy shouting was annoyed because the flight was delayed rather than because of her appearance.
She is wearing underwear though.

People do seem to lose common sense when they are going on holiday. Last year there was a family in front of us and the teenage DD who was about 15 was wearing a flesh coloured bodysuit. It left absolutely nothing to the imagination. Every single one of the hundreds of people queuing was transfixed by this girl who appeared to be stark naked and her parents seemed oblivious.

NicoAndTheNiners · 14/03/2019 16:13

If she was so shaken after her experience on the way out not sure why she chose to wear the same outfit on the way back where apparently she had no problem.

But I agree it smacks of misogyny. Not an outfit I would wear but everything is covered up which needs to be.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 14/03/2019 16:17

Doesn’t look any more offensive than a bloke in shorts and a sleeveless t-shirt. She’s also not fat so not spilling out on anyone.

southnownorth · 14/03/2019 16:22

My 17 year old wears tops similar to this but usually with a little jacket over it. All her friends wear similar. I think she looks fine.

This is all a bit of a storm in a teacup really.

IrmaFayLear · 14/03/2019 16:29

should everyone cover their arms on flights?

Oh, yes pleeeeeese ! I would have a fit of the vapours if I had to sit next to a bloke in a vest. Grim. In fact I think everyone should be issued with a zip-up polythene bodysuit upon boarding a flight.

HotpotLawyer · 14/03/2019 16:42

tellmewhenthespaceship I don’t know what Ryan Air’s motive was and if it was misogynist / sexist, but I am fed up with having topless men flashing their flesh and hair and sweat all over the seats, squashed next to me in buses etc. And I don’t want to sit next to topless men on planes.

GetStrongKeepFighting · 14/03/2019 17:16

She was on This Morning so got her 15 minutes

anniehm · 14/03/2019 17:29

If you zoom in though it's clearly underwear, just because others wear such things doesn't make it right. It's not just about one pretty young lady, can you imagine if she was a different build. Bellies are for the beach. Just slip a t shirt in your bag for the plane

Hwory · 14/03/2019 17:46

Definition of bralet - a tight-fitting crop top with thin straps.

A bralet isn’t underwear and isn’t meant to be only worn under clothing.

A man on the flight was wearing a vest top and shorts who wasn’t told to put a jacket on. Is it only women’s bare arms and top of her back that’s ‘offensive’.
