Anyone else get amazing offer from Ocado?

Mmmmbrekkie · 13/03/2019 17:18

I’m doing my Ocado shop when an email pops up.

6 items for free. Minimum spend £40. Rowse honey, El Paso fajitas, kitchen roll, Coke Zero, John west no drain tuna x 3 and 6x mini magnums.

I’m naturally sceptical. I reach £40 spend and then add the six items plus codes (I needed 5 of the 6 items anyway!)

Sure enough all free. See attached. Remarkable deal! Anyone else?

That is a good deal op! Off the back of this thread, I just searched my email for Ocado offers, and found a £5 voucher off a £60 shop that expired a couple of days ago. Typical!

However the offer of £3 off some £18 shower gel is still available Hmm

I've had a smart pass for about 7-8 years and I love Ocado, but I'll probably bow out when they move over to m&s. I enjoyed their recent update email which said "the only change you'll notice" is that they'll stop stocking the entire Waitrose range and instead have m&s stuff. That's actually quite a big change eh?!

M and S food is nice but it's too pricey for a weekly shop imo - it's more of a treat place/ready meal for tonight I think. I can't imagine ordering eg toilet paper from them. But maybe I'm just not the right calibre of customer?!

BoogleMcGroogle · 14/03/2019 06:44

Nope. I'm another who has been loyal for years. Pretty much the last freebie I got was a box of krill supplements in 2015. Such a treat....

Anyway, after a couple of shops which left me thinking 'how the f** did I spent two hundred quid on a weekly shop', one delivery when they forgot all my fresh food, plus missing fresh baked bread and realising that lots of the little items I stayed loyal for could be got for less at local shops or Amazon, I decided to give Sainsbury's a go ( plus meat from the local farm shop). Three months in, my shopping bills are much less, the food is lovely and fresh, and I won't be going back, not least because who on earth does their weekly shop with M and S?!

GreyRoses · 14/03/2019 08:16

I'm going to phone and cancel my pass at the weekend and try something new.

Very disappointed that Ocado don't reward loyalty.

Ocado will only pay for those whose loyalty is in question or yet to be established. There's little point in throwing money at regular Ocado shoppers.

True, but Ocado need to question their retention rates of customers. There's enough evidence on this thread alone to prove we'll try elsewhere. It's a very bad business model indeed to now have to spend all that money in replacing us with new customers.

fourquenelles · 14/03/2019 09:22

I got a 1p voucher a couple of weeks ago. Sad

Backseatonthebus · 14/03/2019 09:28

If you are a regular Ocado user, set up a new email address, re-register and you will get a host of offers from them. I struggle with their approach to that poster, but if you are going to use them, the less money you give them the better!

PrivateIsles · 14/03/2019 09:31

I hope you didn't spend it at all once four Grin

RogueV · 14/03/2019 10:13

How much is everyone paying for smart pass? I got 6 months free and now it’s £1.99 a month which I think is very good.

caffeineplease · 14/03/2019 10:20

Off to check my Ocado app but I found the other week T Towels at 1p each max 2 per order ... I have a drawer full of the things now as I love a bargain!

MadSweeney · 14/03/2019 10:38

@user1474894224 I had an email years ago asking if I'd like to take part. I've had things ever since.

I have a midweek smartness which I think is £3 a month so Rougues £1.99 is good. You can barter them down over the smart passes, I did last time.

It's getting to the point where it's not really worth it for me anymore. Kids have left home so just DH and I, and I find myself cancelling the weekly reserved order because I just don't need it and going to Tesco for a loaf. The M&S thing was probably the straw that broke the camels back for me. I shall carry on until then but after that I'm done.
Shame, been with them about 7 years now.

CakeNinja · 14/03/2019 10:45

Another loyal customer of 8 years and no good offers or freebies. That’s a lie, a couple of years ago they have me free dog treats 2 weeks in a row. I have never owned a dog or even bought any dog related items from ocado or anywhere else Hmm great.
They also annoy me because they won’t introduce a bagless system. Such a chronic waste of plastic. I pay £9.99 a month for my smartpass, spend £200 a week minimum every week.
However, I very rarely get any substitutions, have never had a cancelled delivery, they always turn up on time, they make it out to me in the snow... it’s just very reliable for me. And still, I get annoyed Grin

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 14/03/2019 10:59

OK I'm peeved now.

BibbityBobbityEars · 14/03/2019 11:04

Smart pass £4.99 here

I use them once a week every week and they are pretty good but I will stop using them once they stop the link with Waitrose. Waitrose needs to up its game with home delivery though.

bettytaghetti · 14/03/2019 12:55

Totally with mumsiedarlingrevolta, feeling very aggrieved reading this thread and not going to be fobbed off with "well at least you'll be able to get Percy pigs with your weekly shop"!
Currently paying £9.99 for smart pass and feeling like a complete mug!
Trouble is, their website & delivery system is far superior to everyone else.

MadSweeney · 14/03/2019 14:06

@bettytaghetti call them. Tell them you are finding the £9.99 too much and are thinking of cancelling.
Bet you a bag of Percy Pigs they do something for you...

FurryDogMother · 14/03/2019 16:25

I can't remember when I started using Ocado - it was at least 2 years ago. Yes, I'm a Pass member, and I generally shop once a week, or sometimes once every 2 weeks, very occasionally twice in a week, spending between £60 and £100 each time. I have no idea why I appear to be one of the Chosen Few - but Ocado are always very generous to me!

SileneOliveira · 14/03/2019 16:29

Ocado doesn't think Scotland exists.

FurryDogMother · 14/03/2019 16:31

Also - I'm really surprised that so many people upthread are saying they're going to cancel when Ocado stop delivering Waitrose and start with M&S - I can't wait! I use Waitrose as well as Ocado already (some things Ocado don't have that Waitrose sell) - I also use Tesco and very occasionally Sainsbury's - but never, ever Asda again 'cos they're hopeless. I''m really looking forward to the M&S/Ocado partnership- I'm housebound (24/7 carer for my Dad) so rarely get to M&S, but when I do I go a bit nuts on their food - love it!

SparklySneakers · 14/03/2019 16:35

I've been boycotting Ocado since around September. Waitrose for me now. Or Tesco but Waitrose send me loads of vouchers without a side order of misogyny.

PrivateIsles · 14/03/2019 16:40

Furry I love M&S food as well, I'm just not sure I could afford it for the weekly shop! If Ocado are going to have own brand/basic stuff as well as m&s stuff, I might stick with them - will have to see.

EvaHarknessRose · 14/03/2019 16:45

I’m so sad for fourquenelles :(

EvaHarknessRose · 14/03/2019 16:46

Also slightly sad that I am boycotting because I would like to go back.

RogueV · 14/03/2019 16:51

I can’t believe some of you are paying up to £9.99 for smart pass! I’d be giving them a ring if I was you.

Ocado are very reliable though. I don’t have any substitutions, the driver is always on time and they have an excellent variety of foods available that you just can’t get in tesco/Asda.

bsc · 14/03/2019 17:47

It used to have a much wider range of products, but they have been slowly chip chip chipping away at the range. I pay £7.99 a month, and often place no order... It has to stop.

IDismyname · 14/03/2019 18:00

With Ocado, you need to adopt the 'treat 'em mean to keep 'em keen' mantra.

They offered me a deal for 3 months just as the builders were starting, so I took them up on their offer. Then dumped them after the 3 months were up. Went off to Sainsburys to earn my Nectar Points (for the turkey!)

Then they got back in touch with another 3 month jobbie. I did that, but cancelled again when the time was up.

That probably took about 2 or 3 years...

Repeated again once or twice more - then was offered a one off deal of £1.99 a month flat rate delivery charge for any day of the week.

Having said that, I get ZILCH in the way of freebies now.

My DM has been a regular shopper with them, and you're right - they treat existing customers dreadfully.
