I’m really glad you like these - I work for the company that makes them! I tried them a few months ago and loved them immediately Grin

We have a new-ish Aldi locally that I haven't got round to visiting yet...definitely making a trip this week now!

Shinygoldbauble · 09/03/2019 13:05

Going later. What section of the store are they in?

TheHolySmirk · 09/03/2019 13:07

They are lovely, they must be quite new, because they hadn't any when I first looked for chocolate ones.

I bought the chocolate/caramel ones too, but I haven't opened them yet.

SeaWitchly · 09/03/2019 14:09

So jealous.
I am in Australia and the Aldi hot cross buns here are disgusting Envy

Sardonicsnape · 09/03/2019 14:10

Oh my goodness that sounds so good. I love the m and s apple ones.

DontLookBackIntoTheSun · 09/03/2019 14:14

They are not hot cross buns if they have rhubarb and custard in them. Hot cross buns do not have chocolate in either, or apple, or caramel

amusedbush · 09/03/2019 14:25

Rhubarb and custards are my favourite sweets (the little fondant tubes, not the hard ones) and I can’t be trusted around hot cross buns as it is, so this could be lethal Grin

SpoonBlender · 09/03/2019 14:31

Just come back from a shopping run and I either missed them or our local doesn't stock them :( I'll try again next time!

Theoldwoman · 09/03/2019 14:33

They sound yum, hope we get them in OZ!

LemonBreeland · 09/03/2019 14:36

My Aldi didn't have them last weekend. I hope they get them soon. I really want one.

Redshoeblueshoe · 09/03/2019 14:36

There's an Aldi in Cheadle Shock
Adds rhubarb hot cross buns to shopping list

Housewife2010 · 09/03/2019 15:51

I tried the Waitrose Elderflower and Lovage Hot Cross Buns last weekend.

CallMeWoman · 09/03/2019 15:55

Why are all these cakes masquerading as hot cross buns?

Why does everything have to have a new fangled flavour? Traditional foods and flavours are just fine.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 09/03/2019 15:57

Rhubarb and custard. Food of the gods.

JMAngel1 · 09/03/2019 16:04

Just got 4 more packets! I left 4 behind because I'm not greedy!!!
They're just in the bread/crumpet/waffle section.

Yes there's an Aldi in Cheadle Heath - Stockport road opposite Morrisons.

Our Aldi doesn't have any Sad

Got a footlong strudel for 89p though, it'll have to do

MinnieMountain · 09/03/2019 16:25

What are they like? Are there separate blobs of rhubarb and of custard within the bun?

TheHolySmirk · 09/03/2019 16:28

There's no custard, the 'custard' is actually white chocolate chips.

The rhubarb is there though, quite a few chunks per bun. Way nicer than sultanas and peel.

LindaLa · 09/03/2019 16:33

Big question before I go shopping:
Do they contain palm fat?

Aldi normal ones did last year so stopped me buying them?
Can you please check ingredients for me OP?

BillyAndTheSillies · 09/03/2019 16:34

I'm normally a bit of a purist over hot cross buns, but tried the Tesco maple syrup and blueberry ones today which were amazing and I may just be converted.

Definitely adding the Aldi ones to my list (which I then give to my mum because she actually lives near an Aldi).

MinnieMountain · 09/03/2019 16:36

Hmm. I love rhubarb and custard but that just seems wrong so more for you lot.

I love the Waitrose wholemeal ones. The consensus in our house is that hot cross buns have got too "cakey".
