Your fault for letting it in the room. Sorry!

Minkies11 · 06/03/2019 21:48

A bit of cat piss should wash out! Not the end of the world. May need to let it stand on its side to dry. Or turn it over.

Chickydoo · 06/03/2019 21:50

Clearly you are not a cat person.
They wee on stuff sometimes. Did you not know that?

@whiskey2014 as anyone will know, cats are sneeky buggers

and no, they aren't allowed in bedrooms, but thanks anyway for your empathy and all round support - you've bern amazing Hmm

You can get enzyme odour remover stuff that’s pretty good.

Se7en11 · 06/03/2019 21:53

@chickydoo.. in the 5 years we've had this cat we've never encountered this problem

It doesn't just wash out my cat did on Sunday (blamed dh dog as he hates the cat) have a mattress protector on it but obviously no longer water proof. I've scrubbed, sprayed, dried and it still stinks. Currently sleeping in sons bottom bunk and dh on the sofa until new one arrives. Sorry no help but feel your pain.

EwItsAHooman · 06/03/2019 21:53

What did you do to anger the cat? DH once took a pork chop away from our old cat, god knows where she got a flipping pork chop from in the first place but she was not best pleased and later that day she very deliberately pissed in his work shoes.

slipperywhensparticus · 06/03/2019 21:53

Swap for my son he spilled gerkins (a jar of them) all over my carpet I smell like a fucking chip shop

Scrub it and bicarb it you might need to spray with urine away but it's not the end of the world

ThunderStorms · 06/03/2019 21:54

Weeing on soft things could indicate an infection such as cystitis. I would get her checked by the vet.

Se7en11 · 06/03/2019 21:54

@givemesteam thankyou, never heard of that so will Google it now... what do I do in the meantime and won't it have just oozed into the middle of the mattress... clearly the mattress protector was useless

Mine widdled on the mattress and we tried sponging the worst of it off and let the mattress air dry. Heavy things to maneuver though. No idea why he did it! Little bugger.

EwItsAHooman · 06/03/2019 21:55

Rug Doctor sell a spray designed for urine and one for pet odour, could be worth a try?

ThunderStorms · 06/03/2019 21:56

Urinating can also be a stress thing. They don’t do revenge. Mixing scents is a way of reinforcing the household bond. Just because their way of scenting is disgusting to us doesn’t mean it is to them.

TyrionsNextWife · 06/03/2019 21:57

My cat peed on my bed one time when he wasn’t well, it was a faff to clean up but I managed it! I sponged up as much as I could with kitchen towel and then soaked (like really soaked, till it was dripping out the other side) the mattress with ‘urine off’.

That seemed to do the job, and must have taken the smell away because he’s not done it since.

If it’s out of character for him, it’d be worth having a word with your vet in case it’s a uti or something. Also, keep reminding yourself how cute he is and how much you love him Smile

dementedpixie · 06/03/2019 21:58

Pet shops will sell an enzyme cleaner that will destroy the odour molecules. Was it a waterproof mattress protector? Maybe it was the new different smell that made them pee on it to mark their territory

RedLipClassic · 06/03/2019 21:59

My cat did this when I got a new mattress! I had to get an enzyme cleaner from pets at home and my mattress is absolutely fine now

ThunderStorms · 06/03/2019 22:00

DON'T use bleach!!

It smells to them like another cat's (Tom cat) urine scent and they are much, much more likely to urinate on something cleaned with bleach.

restingbitchfarce · 06/03/2019 22:04

Soak up the worst then go buy some of this tomorrow. Soak lots into the effected area and leave for half hour to an hour then use a vax to suck out the excess. Once dried mattress will be fine but put a proper waterproof protector on it

anyone want a cat??? Rage new mattress & cat wee
IggyPoppers · 06/03/2019 22:04

Scrub with whatever you've got for now and then leave baking soda sat on it. Go get the enzyme cleaner tomorrow. Cats are arseholes.

Se7en11 · 06/03/2019 22:07

dont think I can get past this, surely whatever I do to clean it
there will still be some residue left in the centre of it...

Oh get a grip

Minkies11 · 06/03/2019 22:11

It'll be fine. Doubt the wee penetrated very far. Unless it's memory foam. Then you're fucked!

ThunderStorms · 06/03/2019 22:16

If you can’t get over it Hmm do the right thing and rehome to. Good rescue. Don't just turf the poor thing out like our neighbours did.

Se7en11 · 06/03/2019 22:18

thankyou everyone for your kind words of advice

except @whisky2014 - you have no idea what else I have going on in my life right now and yes something like this could easily tip me over
