Ouch. Just looking at the photo gave me the heebie jeebies. Hope ds is feeling ok.

NewYoiker · 06/03/2019 19:45

I did this! I was about 8 and wanted to see if it would staple my thumb if I pressed it down.. it did! Had to tell my dad who pulled it out 😂

greenelephantscarf · 06/03/2019 19:47

impressive

but not as impressive as me driving a crocheting needle through the base of my thumb

lizmum5 · 06/03/2019 19:48

Yes ouch although the said having the injection more painful, the X-ray pics though the staple was in deep curled around

My 12 year old decided to see if sticking his fingers between the blender blades when it was on would stop it.

It didn't.

tattooq · 06/03/2019 19:50

Wow he really did manage to totally embed it in his finger! I remember boys at a party when I was a teen stapling themselves 'for a laugh' they just pulled them out themselves. Did he do it on purpose?

lizmum5 · 06/03/2019 19:51

Yes thanks pointlessusername he's fine now we are seeing the funny side now Smile

NewYoiker - are you me!? I came onto this thread to say literally exactly the same: 8, curious about what would happen, stapled my thumb, dad pulled it out.

How funny!

What's your son's story about how it happened OP?

Easterbunnyiscomingsoon · 06/03/2019 19:51

My chef ds chopped his finger off.
Rang me for a lift as he couldn't ride his motor bike.
I enquired about the absent finger part and he had binned it!!
After rescuing it from a bin of veg peelings he wrapped it in blue roll and we went to A&E!!

BillywigSting · 06/03/2019 19:53

I remember the last day of third year in senior school (finishing junior cert) all the boys in my class chasing each other with the staple gun.

It certainly hurts but it's pretty minor. They'll pull it out, clean it and tell him to not be such an eejit next time

lizmum5 · 06/03/2019 19:54

So, his story was him and mate were mucking around in science and thought be funny to see if it would go through, my son being the whally class clown tried and succeeded

I've accidentally half stapled my thumb and pulled it out myself, but Dh got a staple in his eye when classmates decide to have a staple gun fight...he kept the sight in that eye but does have some issues. No wonder he has a needle phobia.

ChrisPrattsFace · 06/03/2019 19:59

My brother stapled my hand to the table when I was a teen. It was hard to detach my hand from the wood!

Cheerybigbottom · 06/03/2019 20:08

Omg my then six year old did this at home, to see what would happen. It bled a fucking lot but he'd only got half the staple into the top of his finger.

We just took it out and cleaned it up and he was ok. He's a bit standoffish with the stapler now though Grin

lizmum5 · 06/03/2019 20:11

Wow some of these stories ConfusedConfusedI had no choice it was in to deep to not take him to A&E, glad I did

lizmum5 · 06/03/2019 20:16

My friend in school very neatly cut a 4 inch long gash through her school skirt and into her thigh.
We were just finishing a cookery lesson, she had a sharp big bladed knife she'd cut her shortbread with. Muttering 'I'm not going to wash this,' she quickly wiped it across her skirt/thigh.
Blood everywhere. Trip to A&E and a neat row of stitches. The scar is still visible 40+ years later when she wears shorts etc.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/03/2019 20:18

This thread has made me so happy!

I had thought for my whole life that I was the only child stupid enough to do this Grin

Bringbackthestripes · 06/03/2019 20:20

I stapled my own finger but I was only about 9. It went right through my nail. I had to unbend the ends to pull it out. I was terrified I would be told off for being so stupid so didn’t dare ask my parents for help!

It’s the kind of thing you only ever do once Grin

Easterbunnyiscomingsoon · 06/03/2019 20:21

Ds about 13 split his head at school, A&E stapled it shut.
I fainted!!
Blush
He kept the staples for years when they removed them.
Grim.

Are you my niece? If not there are two people who have done this!

FreezerBird · 06/03/2019 20:26

That'll teach me not to preview.
