Loyalty cards that are actually worth getting?

GunpowderGelatine · 04/03/2019 16:34

I seem to have about 25 loyalty cards in my purse but the only ones I think are worth having are Boots and Body Shop where you actually get money/vouchers to spend in store, and Subway where it's very easy and quick to get enough points for a free sandwich (I only buy 2 or 3 before getting a free sub).

M&S Sparks card is useless - 15p off a donut? Wow. Thanks Hmm and I'm not even sure what a Matalan card is for because I've never seen any points or offers from it.

What other cards are worth/not worth getting?

Tesco - money off your shop vouchers.

That's it, as far as I can see.

We did get a modest amount of money off from Decathlon after a few big ticket shops (bikes etc)

BarkandCheese · 04/03/2019 16:37

Nectar or Tesco club card are worth it if you regularly use those supermarkets. I live almost next door to a Sainsbury’s so my nectar points build up pretty fast.

StereophonicallyChallenged · 04/03/2019 16:38

Matalan won't serve you without a card....its always been about data mining rather than a loyalty card with them!

The Morrison's one was good when first released. Reach 1000 points and you'd get a fiver off voucher. Very handy. These days though it seems to take a hell of a long time to reach 1000 points!

Phantology · 04/03/2019 16:39

I've never had a Matalan card and I shop there often enough.

Mammajay · 04/03/2019 16:40

I don't have a matalan card but bought a dressing gown from there

ShabbyAbby · 04/03/2019 16:42

Tesco, Boots, Co-op

Whynham · 04/03/2019 16:43

You can refuse the card at Matalan but they try to make you think you can't.

Bananalanacake · 04/03/2019 16:45

I used to have a card for wh Smith's . Don't think it was any good.

Glitteryfrog · 04/03/2019 16:47

Boots, but I get my contact lenses with then and get points for them each months and 10% off any Boots products.

Bubblysqueak · 04/03/2019 16:50

Tesco clubcard pays for our days out.

Lolly86 · 04/03/2019 16:52

Co op card is pretty good for gaining points from own brand products

BobbinThreadbare123 · 04/03/2019 16:54

Nectar points pay for my entire Xmas shop, including booze. Boots points build up and if you get specs or contacts with them you get a huge number of points. Otherwise nowt worth getting in terms of store cards.

listsandbudgets · 04/03/2019 16:55

Boots and co-op

Nectar is ok but takes a long time to build up any useful points. I've got a Morrisions one too but since I only ever shop there a couple of times a year I've only ever managed one vouchter

JumpOrBePushed · 04/03/2019 17:00

The co-op one is good if you go in there frequently and get their own brand stuff.

If you buy an own brand co-op product, you get 5% of the value added to your membership account. You can then let this amount accumulate for however long you like, and then cash it in to get money off a basket / trolley of shopping.

Jins · 04/03/2019 17:02

You used to have to pay for a matalan card and you couldn’t buy anything without one.

EmpressJewel · 04/03/2019 17:02

Ikea - you get a free coffee/tea in store during the week (handy is you live locally). Plus a £5 voucher on your birthday.

Waitrose - free coffee when you make a purchase in store.

Sirzy · 04/03/2019 17:02

Waterstones is good. You collect points for purchases and get £5 (or is it £10?) off when you have spent £10 10 times.

GunpowderGelatine · 04/03/2019 17:07

I forgot about Nectar! Yes we get the cinema stickers and pizza express meals out of it, definitely worth it for that

I often get a decent money off vouchers from Tesco, e.g. 9 quid if you spend 60 is nearly 10pc plus you get reward vouchers in the post. So if you have a £5 voucher and a £9 off voucher that's quite a bit, isn't it? I don't find Sainsbury's quite as good, though my sains and tesco are near each other and I have a theory you can play them off .each other to get the maximum money off. i.e.to to Tesco a few times, then sains, then back to Tesco and lo and behold you get a nice big voucher to lure you back in. this might just be my experience but I've always found it to be the case!

Jaxhog · 04/03/2019 17:10

Boots. Especially if you buy your mindboggling expensive glasses there and you have a triple points voucher.

Nectar's good too if you use ebay. You can set up your ebay account to collect them on every purchase.

Charley50 · 04/03/2019 17:23

I got two Morrison's £5 vouchers in two days last week! I seem to get them less than I used to but mustn't grumble.

Charley50 · 04/03/2019 17:24

I've done ok out of Nectar and Boots too.

Phantology · 04/03/2019 17:29

Boots card is good in theory but I find these days I buy more and more stuff online at a cheaper price than I would in Boots.

TheBitterBoy · 04/03/2019 17:34

I like my John Lewis card. A free hot drink and cake in the cafe once a quarter and occasional offers like spend £50 to get a £5 gift card. I've had a couple of those. Not sure what else it's good for but I like free cake!
