DS wants to be the yellow crayon from The Day The Crayons Quit so started this.

Still need to make his crayon nib hat.

DD wants to be Hermoine so pretty straight forward.

Am currently whittling a wand from a tree branch and sewing a Griffindor patch onto a grey card.

Gruzinkerbell1 · 03/03/2019 16:36

I'm making a trip upstairs to grab an existing costume from the wardrobe...

WorldBookDays · 03/03/2019 16:36

Fair dos.

TBH I only make stuff cause I can't afford costumes 😂

Paddington bear's suitcase from a shoebox and brown paper. The rest is from the dressing up box.

Jamhandprints · 03/03/2019 16:44

Trying to attach photos but it's not working. They're just painted cardboard circles...not finished yet obviously.

I'm making no effort whatsoever if that counts? 😂

PepperSteak · 03/03/2019 16:51

DD’s costume is from Asda but I’m excited as it’s her first World Book Day. I haven’t even started thinking about my costume yet

Stinkytoe · 03/03/2019 16:52

Our school is gone with “bedtime stories” as a theme meaning DC can go in their pyjamas so that’s what I’m going with

JoyceDivision · 03/03/2019 16:57

We have done:
Mr bump: blue t-shirt, blue trousers / jeans with bandages wrapped round

Mr Strong: red top and joggers, big red box and green flat hat from a piece of card

Demon dentist: white lab coat and white tights and shoes with a toy cat

Bert from rethirher, stripey top, wig, my sunglasses, beard drawn on in eyeliner and an IKEA rat teddy stitched on

I hate having to buy costumes as they never wear them again!

This year Billy William and taking in pork pies Grin Grin Grin

minesthecutest · 03/03/2019 17:00

I'm grabbing something from his wardrobe and seeing what character it could possibly be and then that will be his favourite book for the day!
can't afford all these costumes and I honestly don't have the time to make one I'm already up til past midnight everynight studying

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 03/03/2019 17:04

I'm printing out a diary of a wimpy kid mask and laminating it. DS will wear his own clothes.

MillicanoKenco · 03/03/2019 17:06

This and an inflatable banana..

Goodness how I hate that book OP Blush

Nothing as they aren't dressing up, but before we knew that she was planning on girl from Tiger who came to tea.

Did anyone see the thread with the superworm outfit on it this week, I lost it! Hilarious!

DrCoconut · 03/03/2019 17:36

DS2 wants to go as Freddy Fazbear. He has a FNAF onesie with mask type outfit. I'm sceptical about whether it's ok for world book day but he says FNAF books are available therefore it is Hmm. He's never played FNAF as I don't let him but he likes the song on YouTube and the characters.

lucysmam · 03/03/2019 17:40

A bloody unicorn (sort of!)

Dd2 is reading Unicorn School (or at least, I think that's what they're called) so I've turned some rainbow striped socks into wrist warmers and am going to stitch the dressing up box tutus together to make a tail. Add a unicorn horn headband & some sparkle on the day & job done.

BitchQueen90 · 03/03/2019 18:25

Nothing. DS's school always does pyjamas instead of costumes. I love it cos I cannot be arsed with making stuff and I think it's good for the parents who can't afford costumes.

thefirst48 · 03/03/2019 18:38

Our school decided last minute as in Friday to send a letter home and say they would like the children to dress as something from the secret garden ie fairy, gnomes, a gardener etc. Was not happy as usual last minute but both my sons want to be gnomes so a fiver costume each from amazon job done. World book day really annoys me as it's more money to spend and my eldest two are getting to old for fancy dress!

parrotonmyshoulder · 03/03/2019 18:44

DD has constructed her own elf costume and she and DH are making a bow and arrow set at this moment, from sticks they rescued from the dog I believe.

I am very proud of DS’s hand made wizard beard, but I expect it will be either rejected or destroyed by 9.05 on Thursday.

I’m glad my own school is doing ‘bedtime stories’ aka PJ day.

parrotonmyshoulder · 03/03/2019 18:46

However, never underestimate how hard it is to maintain any influence with children, or liaise with parents/ governors/ visitors/ social workers/ passing city councillors while wearing Griffyndor pyjamas...

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 03/03/2019 18:46

I am being the pig from the secret diary of pig books that my class love. I may have even bought a fart machine for appropriate sound effects. I will let the children control the remote control!

Justonemorepancake · 03/03/2019 18:47

Crocodile from Alan's Scary Teeth. I've got really into it and crafted from a cut up cardboard box, sheets of foam from hobby craft and a glue gun. The foam is amazing - it glues easily, is mouldable and you can create really elaborate stuff with it. It's a revelation! I'm living my best life making this bad boy Grin

Justonemorepancake · 03/03/2019 18:49

@FoofFighter link pretty please?! Would like to see that!
