Last weekend my Daughter lost her purse in a bar on a visit to Liverpool. It contained the usual cash, bank cards and driving licence etc.
Today the postman brought a jiffy bag that was sent by recorded delivery.
Inside it contained the purse, fully intact.
There was no note or anything in the package to say who had found and returned it, however according to the franking stamp, it cost £5 to post.
I'm so pleased that there are still honest people around, especially the person who returned it at a cost to themselves.
Whether the person is a mumsnetter or not I would just like to say a massive THANK YOU. 😁

Needcoffee some fucker skimmed my credit card on Bold St yesterday - no idea how: it's my only contactless one. Used it in Home and Bargain and the Works, walked home, checked the app to see when it's due to be paid - maxed out on betting websites, Netflix and some site I've never heard of Angry

Much swearing about "fucking scallies" ensued Blush. Tbf, it's never happened before, and I was out for about fifteen minutes, so I'm fairly certain it was someone in or around Concert Square, though I appreciate this makes it relatively unlikely that they were Scousers Grin

Liverpool gets a bad rap, but it's no different to any other city that's a popular tourist destination, to be honest - it's attractive to people who like to prey on those whose defences are down, because they're on holiday, but those sorts come from everywhere and are found everywhere. In terms of general personal safety, though, it's a safer place than most, and with people who step in to help anyone without a second thought.

DS went to Uni in Liverpool and loved it. One night his best mate got mugged by a group of lads while walking home after a night out. His mate said while he was lying on the floor and the muggers were kicking him, they were having a surreal conversation amongst themselves about not kicking him too hard and not kicking him in the head.Hmm. He said he almost felt grateful to them.

Those muggers sound like they are very well acquainted with the criminal sentencing guidelines!

Liverpool is ace ❤️

And nothing like its wholly undeserved negative historic reputation

I agree wholeheartedly. Ds1 is at The University of Liverpool and he has fell in love with the city and we're from Manchester! Grin. I've visited a few times and I love it too.

I did this once. Found a purse on the pavement and noted the owner lived just across the road so rather than handing it in at the Police station I just went on over to reunite with the owner.
She basically made me feel terrible.Called me a thief and was aggressive in manner. She shouted not to move an inch ,carefully inspected the contents and said if anything was missing she was calling the police Hmm
She then noted all was intact and did awkwardly apologise Hmm
Only and last time I hand a lost item back in person 🙂

What a strange story Pavlova I’d have told her to do one.

Pavlova31 · 10/03/2019 14:08

In hindsight I think that would have been a better option Bowchic. I guess I was just taken aback with how aggressive she was.

many years ago I found someones degree thesis in the ladies loo at liverpool st station, they had obviously it put down to wash their hands, I took it straight to lost property, I have always wondered if they got it back, this was before the days of laptops etc so was probs her only copy.

That's lovely.

I once dropped my wallet with a few gift cards in not far from my home.

2 teenage girls returned it to me about an hour after I'd got home.

I gave them the new look gift card as a thanks.

Ono very found £100 of cash in the street and took it to police station. It was never claimed and one day I got a call to say it was mine now Shock
