Can I just have this little moment please?

I had my DS when I had just turned 19 and had 0 support. The father wasn't on the scene, my friends were mostly off at university having fun and my parents were embarrassed of me. In fact, I ended up giving birth to him with no one there except medical professionals which was bloody hard when I had an episiotomy and forceps birth with no pain relief

We left the hospital and I remember feeling so clueless about what to do with this tiny pink crying thing!

I muddled along, ended up marrying someone when he was 6 who turned out to be nasty and abusive. We got out of that and moved away, cut contact with all the toxic people, kept in touch with all the good ones, and started again. He had to move schools but has coped so well, despite being diagnosed with Autism on top of everything else.

Well, in October, he passed the 11+ with an "impressive" score (their words!) and I've just found out that he has got a place at grammar school!

I am so so proud of him, and for once, a little bit proud of myself, too...

Fabulous! Well done and congratulations to both of you, Kake you must be so proud of both him and you Flowers

Congratulations!! That's brilliant.

Although this did make me smile - Make sure he makes friends with a good group of boys.

The idea that parents have any control over secondary school friends! Grin

Sorry, I've been on the school run. He's going to find out if anyone he knows is going to the school too.

Thanks so much everyone. Making me quite emotional, I must say!

@Pigflewpast thanks for the reassurance and I'm glad to hear your boy has found some good friends :)

We are actually having a LOT of cake this weekend as we're having a little get together on Saturday and it's my youngest DD's birthday on Sunday so hopefully that will suffice!

Thanks again x

Well done, you are right to be chuffed!

I'm not sure if my dd's grammar is the norm for grammars but there are plenty of quirky kids there. She fitted in just fine Wink
