Can I just have this little moment please?

I had my DS when I had just turned 19 and had 0 support. The father wasn't on the scene, my friends were mostly off at university having fun and my parents were embarrassed of me. In fact, I ended up giving birth to him with no one there except medical professionals which was bloody hard when I had an episiotomy and forceps birth with no pain relief

We left the hospital and I remember feeling so clueless about what to do with this tiny pink crying thing!

I muddled along, ended up marrying someone when he was 6 who turned out to be nasty and abusive. We got out of that and moved away, cut contact with all the toxic people, kept in touch with all the good ones, and started again. He had to move schools but has coped so well, despite being diagnosed with Autism on top of everything else.

Well, in October, he passed the 11+ with an "impressive" score (their words!) and I've just found out that he has got a place at grammar school!

I am so so proud of him, and for once, a little bit proud of myself, too...

Congratulations!

If your son is on the autistic spectrum, I very much hope that his new school will provide good support and understand his particular needs.

The main thing is that you son feels supported and is happy. Then he will continue to flourish

I had my first DD when I was 19 too.. but I had a LOT of support. I think it's been pretty tough for you, hasn't it Flowers The saddest thing was to hear how you gave birth alone without even a friendly hand to squeeze.

Well done little Kake! the future will be bright for you, thanks to your AMAZING Mum.

CharlyAngelic · 01/03/2019 07:32

Well done Flowers

BillywigSting · 01/03/2019 07:36

That's fantastic!

You sound like a tough cookie and a fab mum, well done for getting both of you out of a toxic situation and him into a grammar! Both of those are wonderful achievements Grin

Pigflewpast · 01/03/2019 07:36

You sound like you’ve been a fantastic mum to him, congratulations to you both. My boy is small, slim and not sporty, he found his people in the library at secondary school and is now form rep in year 8, so I’ve stopped worrying a little bit.
