Which supermarket delivery is best for subs?

Babysharkdododont · 25/02/2019 17:45

Just had my Asda delivery, had the most silly subs (not hilarious Mumsnet worthy ones, just nappies a size smaller than I ordered, a single something rather than multipack etc). I'm beyond fed up with them.
Who do you get your delivery from and do they always manage to get the basics to you?
Thanks in advance

Ocado. Two (very logical) subs in six months.

I tried ONE Asda delivery and there were three or four subs in it.

And the website was tacky. I’m sticking with Ocado and hunting the special offers.

Mmmhmmokdear · 25/02/2019 17:48

I've never had a sub from Ocado and I rarely get them from Tesco, but what I have had I've been fine with. Asda were ridiculous for subs.

OddBoots · 25/02/2019 17:51

Morrisons works from the same system as Ocardo so substitutions almost never happen.

AlanThePig · 25/02/2019 17:51

Ocado and Morrisons. Simply because they order pick from a warehouse and not the shop floor so have better control of what's in stock.
I've had about 3 subs in 7 years with Ocado.

Babysharkdododont · 25/02/2019 17:51

Maybe paying more for Ocado will be worth it for the frustration involved with Asda. How can a major retailer not have any green grapes available I ask you!? Such a first world issue of course.

Tesco are pretty good. I rarely get subs and even then it's for something better e.g this week I got 1kg chicken breasts instead of 750g. I think out depends on the store your order is coming from through.

We don't have ocado.

Smoggle · 25/02/2019 17:58

I never get subs with Morrisons.

ginghamstarfish · 25/02/2019 18:00

Been using Tesco for about 4 years now, they are pretty good, do get the odd one but it's usually a better item. You can choose whether or not to accept a substitution, and can leave a note for the picker if you wish.

Newbuild · 25/02/2019 18:00

I mix between Waitrose and Ocado now. I use new email addresses and always get £20 or 20% off my orders so it’s cheaper than when I went to Tesco.

Subs when I rarely get one are always just a different version of something, always more expensive than what I ordered but original price honoured

Redglitter · 25/02/2019 18:03

I rarely get subs from Tesco but they're actually quite logical when you get them. And usually to your advantage. The last one i had was a pack of 4 croissants replaced with a pack of 8

Asda ones were a joke. One of the reasons i stopped using them

bakebakebake · 25/02/2019 18:13

Asda subbed my box of 5 creme eggs.. for a box of 12! No complaints from me there haha!!

I had 11 subs from them this week though!

StrongerThanIThought76 · 25/02/2019 18:27

I've also never had any subs from Morrison's.

Plus I love the texts that tell me to look out for Richard in Rhubarb van, Chris in Cucumber or Tony in Tractor Smile

seastargirl · 25/02/2019 18:33

I've used Tesco for years and rarely have a problem. They did recently send me j cloths as a sub for cling film, but as they point it out at the door it's really easy just to send it back. Normally they sub something better so you'll frequently get a Tesco finest instead of the standard.

winsinbin · 25/02/2019 18:38

I find the exact opposite with Tesco to seastar. Although they don’t often send subs, when they do they are the cheapest possible alternative and clearly selected with an eye to saving Tesco money. One that particularly annoys me (in a very ‘my diamond shoes are pinching my feet way’) is when I order Tesco finest champagne and they substitute Prosecco - it’s NOT the same thing and it gets sent back.

PickleSarnie · 25/02/2019 18:46

Ocado. Very, very rarely have subs because he warehouse set up means they know exactly what's in stock and don't have the risk of a shopper in the supermarket taking it all off the shelf before your order is filled.

The only times I've had subs, they've been logical and usually for a more expensive item at the same price.

Once there were multiple substitutions (which was the only time in years) and the gave me a £10 voucher (I didn't complain to get it, the just sent it to me)

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 25/02/2019 19:02

Tesco - the only dodgy subs or missing items came in the period before Christmas. The drivers said it was because there was an overtime ban before the end of the year and so the managers (and other untrained folk) were doing the picking.

Tattletale · 25/02/2019 19:08

I stopped using Asda as the amount of unavailable items at the time of delivery was getting ridiculous. No subs for bread, milk etc. Used Sainsbury's for the first time at the weekend and no missing items/subs. I was amazed!

Userplusnumbers · 25/02/2019 19:10

Another vote for Ocado, plus they text you in advance so you're not hovering on the doorway trying to decide if you want to keep it or not!

KipperTheFrog · 25/02/2019 19:12

I use Tesco. Rarely any subs, and when they do it's logical. 2 weeks in a row I got free bread because it was squashed in transit. Didn't ask for that! It was perfectly edible. We don't have the option for Morrisons here. Asda are by far the worst. Sainsbury's were ok when I used them

BrieAndChilli · 25/02/2019 19:13

Morrison’s - it’s picked from a warehouse so rarely get any subs as when you make your order it knows what it’s got or will have in stock on your delivery date and so will earmark it for you. I assume on the odd occasion I’ve had a sub it’s becasue a delivery to them was late or someone dropped a crate of wine or something.
When you order from Tesco/Asda/Sainsbury’s you are taking the gamble that they will have those things on the shelf, unfortunately you may order one day and the day before tor order is picked there may be a special offer and so the shelves are picked clean of that item.

jwclha · 25/02/2019 19:14

Ocado or Morrison's. Never had a sub with either of them

Nanasueathome · 25/02/2019 19:14

I use Ocado and very, very rarely get subs
They also price match against Tesco so send a voucher for the difference if the Ocado shop costs more than the same items at Tesco

Winterfellismyhome · 25/02/2019 19:15

I usually turn the subs off when i order tbh

notanothernam · 25/02/2019 19:46

Tesco are very good, used them for years. Often don't have subs, if I do they're sensible or better, and the odd occasion I have had issues their customer service is superb.

CouldntThink · 25/02/2019 19:48

I got 6 subs from Tesco last week, wasn’t impressed.
