Which supermarket delivery is best for subs?

Babysharkdododont · 25/02/2019 17:45

Just had my Asda delivery, had the most silly subs (not hilarious Mumsnet worthy ones, just nappies a size smaller than I ordered, a single something rather than multipack etc). I'm beyond fed up with them.
Who do you get your delivery from and do they always manage to get the basics to you?
Thanks in advance

Sainsbury's always seem to have sensible subs. Think I've only ever sent one thing back in years of using them. Plus they email you in the morning to tell you what, if any, subs they are making.

I've used them all and Morrison's are the best by far in my experience.

sighrollseyes · 25/02/2019 21:19

Just had Morrison's no subs at all.

LightAsTheBreeze · 25/02/2019 21:25

I find Tesco quite good, I get the odd one and usually something similar but a bigger or better pack, last week I wanted Cadbury small eggs and ended up with a much bigger bag than I ordered.

Whyisitsodifficult · 25/02/2019 21:27

Ocado here, hardly any subs in 5 years and if they do they’re logical ones!

Santasballsack · 25/02/2019 22:54

Youve all reminded me of one of my favourite threads on here! Jesus in the cabbage van. Going to search now!

longwayoff · 26/02/2019 07:00

Waitrose and Ocado. Few subs and always appropriate so far.

nikkylou · 26/02/2019 08:47

I don't mind subs that much.
And I use Asda. I like getting an email telling me what subs I'm getting so I know what I'm rejecting.
The subs I get are logical even if they didn't follow my logic. E.g. Christmas pigs in blankets subbed for the same price cheese and something ones. I mean I'd preferred just a different extra special pig in blankets rather than veggie ones but technically a logical sub.

sanityisamyth · 26/02/2019 09:15

Can't you just turn subs off? I do that with ASDA so it means that I don't get silly swaps. If it's not in stock (rare) then I don't get it. It's either unimportant and I reorder for next time or I can pop into a local shop to get it.

We love Jesus and his cabbage van.

Another vote for Ocado. I’ve been using them for about 5 months now and haven’t had a single sub. They have a free 12 month smart pass deal on at the moment which I’ve used.

I’ve used asda too, when they had a free months delivery pass. They were awful! Lots of subs, lots of out of stock products and a non show. All within the 1 month free trial.

Sainsbury’s are pretty good too.

Tesco’s were ok, I found the dates on their stuff weren’t great.

I’ve yet to try Waitrose and Morrisons.

I switch around a lot to make the most of free delivery passes: money off vouchers!

NarcissistMum · 26/02/2019 10:15

If anyone wants a £20 off first shop with Ocado voucher, please send me a pm.

Seahawk80 · 26/02/2019 10:30

Another vote for Ocado! Rarely get subs or delays. I tried Asda twice, once there were so many subs and the second time they didn't turn up! I hunt out the offers on Ocado and stock up the freezer on the flash sales!

Megan2018 · 26/02/2019 10:32

Ocado
Very rarely gets subs and any made are almost always fine.
We ditched Tesco due to subs

SharkSave · 26/02/2019 12:48

Morrisons. 2 (sensible) subs in a year.

Tesco have been shite every time I've used them, 7 subs last time and I didn't get an email before hand about it.

longwayoff · 26/02/2019 14:05

Oh. Ocado and M&S in talks. Hurrah!!!!!

CheeseWheel · 26/02/2019 16:38

It absolutely depends on area I think. Asda pick from our local small and crap store so often run out of stuff. They also have a lot of seemingly clueless staff on picking duties. It combines to give a number of stupid subs.

In comparison Tesco pick from a bigger store that is much better stocked and employ more care with subs.

When we lived elsewhere Asda were the best because they picked from a big store which is close to the warehouse and always well stocked. They also seemed to employ more common sense when subbing.
Meanwhile Tesco in that area was a smaller store and you'd end up with loads of subs of varying degrees of insanity. I lost my mind the December I couldn't leave the house. I made the stupid error to try tesco again as they had some very good offers on. they subbed half my shopping for insane random things and some they just straight left out. I never used them again. It wasn't Christmas either just a random Tuesday at the beginning of December.

Mmmhmmokdear · 28/02/2019 13:24

I just had to come back & tell you that i had 2 subs from tesco this week, but they subbed for "better" brands and most importantly, price matched them.

A loaf of bread was missing, first time I've had something missing, but customer service were great, refunded me for not only the bread, but the delivery charge as well, no questions asked. Very good experience all round.

BellatrixLeStrangest · 28/02/2019 14:27

I love Morrison's. very rarely do I get a sub and it's usually for something better. As a PP said you usually get a text about it and then they ask on the door if it's ok- if not you just send it back with them. Another good thing is that if you have damaged food (again rarely happens) you just ring the Morrison's helpline and they refund you.
So for an example I had to ring to tell them about a butternut squash as it wasn't fit to eat (very bruised) and I also had a ready meal container slightly burst so there was gravy on a couple of items. I did tell the lovely man on the phone that I wasn't that fussed about the gravy as it had gone on some seabass which was in plastic and no way spoiled but he refunded me for it all.
