Which films did you love as a child?

Especially if you wanted to watch them again and again?

Some of mine were:
Mary Poppins: I watched it recently, still as wonderful and whimsical as ever. I saw it so many times as a child.
Wizard of Oz.
Home Alone.
Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory (Gene Wilder).
Clue - I loved its wit, despite its murderous nature!

Robin Hood - the animal version

Return to Oz. More than The Wizard of Oz oddly. I also remember a Worst Witch film. I didn't watch a massive amount of films growing up as parents commanded the TV so missed out on most stuff like Disney.

Disney films - Bambino’s, wizard of oz etc.

Disney non- animated films, ie. those starring Hayley Mills

Carry-on films and Dr in the house

The big films were only shown at Christmas and Easter, and cinema films didn’t get to the tv for three years or so after they were released.

Cinema was a rare treat. Bambi was the first film I ever saw. We went to Saturday club when on holiday with our cousins and saw things like Thoroughly modern MIlly, Blackbeard and the Aristocats. Then the Railway children and Digby.

wanderings · 24/02/2019 19:22

I liked Return to Oz too, although I was scared of the gallery of heads.

Railway Children also. But I couldn't bear to watch the Perks's birthday scene, I couldn't understand why he was so ungrateful!

And a niche one was Clockwise: John Cleese as a punctuality-obsessed headmaster, I watched it again and again.

Carry on Screaming.
