Because I'm going tomorrow!

Ah, so Barbara has better knowledge. I’m obviously happy with the first round of stickering. I didn’t buy ready meals reduced. I like the big cakes and plants.

BarbaraofSevillle · 25/02/2019 13:36

Maybe different shops do it in different ways. In the one I go to, the first round of stickering might take 50 pence off a £4 pack of chicken breasts, so hardly worth it, but the second round will take it down to maybe £1.50, so a much better deal.

JingsMahBucket · 25/02/2019 13:41

@BarbaraofSevillle the managers and workers in your branch are being spineless. They should tell the customers to go away and return in 30 minutes after they’re done completing the task. Sheesh.

BiggFactHunt · 25/02/2019 15:08

Oh yes, yellow sticker time is the best.
I got a couple of nets of tangerines for 75p at the weekend and I’ve had packs of 4 lovely peaches for 50p not so long ago.

You would waste your time in my local M&S waiting for yellow stickering. They even sell perishable goods that are a day out of date for the normal price. Most things have just a day or two left I’m talking maybe 80% of the stock. They just sell it and don’t restock.

The 3 items for £10 meat deal is good. I buy 3 chickens and freeze two.

As far as ready meals go, I think they're catering to a younger demographic these days. Everything tastes too peppery/spicy for me now, even traditional British dishes like shepherd's pie and casseroles. I think they've gone overboard on reducing fat and salt, so they have to add spices to make it taste of something.

I prefer lidl for bakery items. 69p for a Tiger loaf, when M&S are charging £1.69. And their pains au chocolat are the best anywhere for 49p.

But yes to M&S tomatoes, especially in February, when nowhere else seems to have any worth buying.

Happynow001 · 25/02/2019 16:27

M&S definitely for a treat or speed/convenience as they are expensive but their large gourmet fish pie, fresh pineapple chunks, wholemeal rolls, fruit scones and (now I can't get my favourite cheese scones in my local Supermarket) the cheese scones - which are delicious with a lovely slice of deli ham or caramelised onion houmous.

drigon · 26/02/2019 00:05

Packs of roasted nuts, coffee and walnut sponge cake, large peeled prawns, stewing steak in a can.

Lucked · 26/02/2019 00:14

I like the Gastropub Moussaka as the local supermarket doesn’t sell one.

I hit peak yellow sticker time last week by accident. Desserts for 10p! I had to have a strong word with myself to resist scooping it all into my basket.

Lucked · 26/02/2019 00:15

Stewing steak in a can! Never knew such a thing existed. Will have to have a look next time I am in.

tumpymummy · 26/02/2019 00:27

This is a great thread! I don't shop there very often because I find the food too expensive, but some great ideas to try here. If the food tastes good I won't mind the expense quite so much. Normally I only ever buy their extremely chocolatey biscuits or as a special treat their tubs of mini swiss rolls. Their salads are good, particularly in the summer. I bought a key lime pie reduced once which was yum but I'm not sure I'd pay full price for it.

MumUnderTheMoon · 26/02/2019 00:31

Victoria sponge muffin!

DrCristinaYang · 26/02/2019 01:02

I love their Orzo Pasta and sun dried tomatoes with balsamic vinegar. They are with all the salady lunch things and are usually 2 for £4.

DrCristinaYang · 26/02/2019 01:20

Forgot about Percy pigs
The Parminter potatoes with garlic and rosemary seasoning
Their cooked meats are also good albeit a bit pricey at 3 for £7. I especially like the turkey from this range as it is thin but full of flavour as I tend not to like a thicker meat.

drigon · 26/02/2019 01:37

The stewing steak is lovely, it's very tender with a nice gravy. Great for pies or a quick casserole if you added more veg etc. As I remember, it's quite pricey though and I don't buy it very often.

tappitytaptap · 26/02/2019 04:35

Victoria sponge muffins and granola squares from the bakery Grin

HappyDinosaur · 26/02/2019 04:59

Creamed spinach.

LightAsTheBreeze · 26/02/2019 06:55

Oh yes, definitely the Victoria sponge muffin from the bakery

SukisKettle · 26/02/2019 07:32

I love their bottles of Peri-Peri sauce. I often buy 8 bottles at a time as they once ran out and didn't restock for weeks. It was a very difficult time 😥.

longwayoff · 26/02/2019 07:42

The Cornish Cruncher Cheddar is the tastiest supermarket cheese I've ever tried.

Mumberjack · 26/02/2019 09:30

Madagascan vanilla fresh custard. Amazing.

LightAsTheBreeze · 26/02/2019 10:10

Cornish Cruncher Cheddar is the one I love. I wasn’t sure of the name upthread

longwayoff · 26/02/2019 15:38

Oh that Cornish cruncher! I spent a good 30 years not eating cheese as it pretty much all tasted like soap. But cruncher is real cheese. Yum

dontcallmelen · 26/02/2019 17:11

Yy the Victoria muffin & the lemon ones are yummy as well, also the soda bread & pancakes in the chiller bit if you feel really lazy.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 26/02/2019 17:14

Thai green chicken curry …. absolutely delicious and I'm usually disappointed by ready meals. It's lovely and spicy.

Also their tins of curry …. I was amazed that these are so nice. Perfect for camping.
