WTF has bitten my son? Tick?

Bathing my 3yo and I’ve noticed this on his leg.

We’ve been out in a garden/park/woodland place today. Could it be a tick?

Def get him checked out - could be lots of things, but looks like it’s getting nasty.

Call GP in the morning type checked out? Or cancel bedtime and find a late pharmacy? I’m a bit of a worrier and thinking Lyme disease :-(

Go to a pharmacy. If needs be you can cancel your GP appointment in the morning. This is exactly the type of thing pharmacies are qualified and frees up a doctor.

It does look like a horsefly bite, although the middle usually looks more like a blister. I would go to a pharmacy too, just in case it's a tick bite.

I'd be ringing 111 for that OP, just in case. I have a relative who had undiagnosed Lyme disease and it's not pleasant.

zzzzz Not all cases of Lyme disease have a red circle/bulls eye. DS was diagnosed by a blood test after he developed facial numbness and I remembered him being bitten by a tick a few weeks previously but he definitely had no redness at the bite site.
I would get him to the GPs tomorrow.

Don't wake him, just take a picture.

Have a look at new NICE guidelines on Lyme Disease and pictures of different people’s rashes and take them in to chat over with your GP. I don’t know if it’s Lyme but you don’t want to miss the chance to treat of it is.

Draw a line in biro around the edge of the redness. Then you can see how much it's grown / shrunk in the morning. Other than that, I wouldn't do anything until the morning - then pharmacist tomorrow.

It looks like an insect bite,not the pics you see of tick bites. But even if it is,a pharmacy won't be able to do anything about it,will they?
I'd put antihistamine on it and speak to the GP if I was worried after a day or so.

I’ve drawn around it and am letting him sleep. I’ll see how it looks in the morning. Trying to get some perspective.

It could be a spider bite.

My DD is forever getting bitten by things. Even in winter they were attacking her with gusto.

In the most gentle way possible, you need to calm down, my lovely. It's a bite and your DS isn't in the slightest bit bothered, if he is asleep.
If it's an issue tomorrow, then give him some Piriton.

People on here need to chill out and stop feeding the poor woman's anxieties.

I've pulled two ticks off my dogs over the past couple of weeks and we live in Scotland so it's def tick season again.

My son had Lyme disease a couple of years ago. If you don't treat early, it's very difficult to get rid. Go see your doctor tomorrow and don't let them fob you off.

Best to see the doctor tomorrow as you don't want to regret it. Posters who tell you to chill (as it may be an insect bite) may well be right, but Lyme Disease can be life altering so please don't ignore the small possibility he may have been infected.
