Or have I but they’re just too ashamed to admit it?

We leave and the Eu has to follow various legal processes to enable that separation in a legal and damage limiting way - simple as. Nothing personal or vindictive - just like terminating a contract has to follow due process. It’s funny how people talk about the Eu as if it’s this separate entity and not a group of our former close trading partners and allies.

BlueJag · 23/02/2019 19:27

I don't really talk to many people about my leave vote.
I enjoy talking with other Brexiteers as I feel we understand our reasons without explaining why we voted to leave. Too many reasons.
I personally don't understand why anyone wants to remain in the EU but I don't ask as I'm a very determined leaver.
I just respect people's choices.

TalkinPeece · 23/02/2019 19:32

NB Part of the EU Divorce bill is massive pensions for life for Nigel Farage, his ex wife and his kids
and all the other pro Brexit MEP's
the bill would drop a bit if they were all to forego their pensions .....
you could ask them

Parker231 · 23/02/2019 19:34

@Blue Jag - what is your solution to BRExit and the GFA?

BerensteinBear · 23/02/2019 19:35

Surely that reflects the very generous salaries / benefits that all meps get?
Aka the Gravy train Confused

PierreBezukov · 23/02/2019 19:38

I’m a leaver, DH is a leaver and most of our extended family and friends are too. Agree with Wallis,I’m a leaver, DH is a leaver and most of our extended family and friends are too. Not any have changed their minds.

surferjet · 23/02/2019 19:39

A lot of them are here under FOM rules so really pissed off.
Can’t say I blame them, but if they’re not entitled to vote in our referendums they should just keep quiet imo.
Not that they will of course.

PierreBezukov · 23/02/2019 19:45

I'm ashamed to say that I know a few leavers. Racist extended family and racist neighbour.

Pig ignorant, vile comments like this are why many leavers aren't vocal. Most leavers are disgusted both at the attitude of Remainers like this, and at the 'punish them' bullying attitude of the EU. If another vote were held, i reckon leavers would be even more determined to leave now.

surferjet · 23/02/2019 19:52

PierreBezukov

Most remainers are disgusted too, it’s only the very vocal minority who come out with crap like that.

why100000 · 23/02/2019 19:55

But to be fair maybe the leavers this particular poster knows are actually racist?

“Not all leavers are racists, but all racists are leavers” - so the saying goes.

I know that there were multiple types of leaver (and remainer) votes, but no one can deny that there was a racist element to the leave vote?

Have people forgotten Farage’s poster?

I’m yet to meet a leaver
bellinisurge · 23/02/2019 20:02

It's not about changing minds. It's about avoiding No Deal. How many Leavers on here are also No Dealers. We have a mechanism to Leave. It's called WA. Are any of the Leavers on here prepared to accept that?

Hiddenaspie1973 · 23/02/2019 20:06

That's because we're all living in our caves with our knuckle grazing, chest-beating partners whilst gnawing on bones for dinner. All whilst polishing our bald heads and stroking our British Bulldog tattoos.

pusspuss9 · 23/02/2019 20:14

Have people forgotten Farage’s poster?

Farage's poster was the reality of what was happening n Europe in 2015 on a more or less daily basis.

Don't you think it's something that people need to be informed about? It had and is still having huge ramifications especially in Germany. It's not racist to state facts - in fact it's irresponsible to hide them.

surferjet · 23/02/2019 20:16

Wanting controls on immigration doesn’t make you racist.
Keep up.

TalkinPeece · 23/02/2019 20:28

@surferjet
Wanting controls on immigration doesn’t make you racist.
Indeed, but nor does it sort the issues facing the country

why100000 · 23/02/2019 20:33

Anyone who thinks Farage’s poster wasn’t extremely offensive and dog whistling, is not worth having a debate with.

His poster was not informative - it was deliberately emotive and rabble rousing. It seems that it worked.

No need to keep up with anything Farage or the likes of him have to say.

pusspuss9 · 23/02/2019 20:35

It could have had great relevance in so far as Merkel had made the unilateral decision to keep the borders open. Her plan which was supported by the EU was to distribute the immigrants/refugees throughout Europe. They wanted to force each country to take quotas set by the EU. It was relevant.

I, probably like most of my generation, knew very little about the EU. I had done a Masters degree in the 70s; brought up my family, and by the early 2000s was ready to return to University. I was privileged to return to University to complete a Second Masters Degree; this time in European Policy, European Law and European Economic Analysis. Words cannot describe the horror I felt as I delved into the truth of the EU. Sends shivers down my spine to this day, remembering the horror of the realisation, that we had been hoodwinked into the EU by deceitful, disingenuous, intentionally devious means. The populace of the UK was never intended to find out the truth behind the EU, until they reckoned it was too late. Truth is it almost....almost...almost is too late. We already are, in the UK, all but a federal state in the United States of Europe. You never quite realised that, did you? Why? Because ' they very deliberately decided not to tell you! They deliberately created a political elite who knew full well that power was being ceded , systematically, Treaty by Treaty, to the EU. But who knew? They did! But were we the UK populace ever informed? Absolutely not! Why? They made mega millions from EU scammery & we the minions were shafted day, daily, monthly, yearly & forever. Where did your pensions go? Where did your schools, your NHS, your housing, your social services go? Well, £55 million per day, every day, every week, every month, every year..... Guess what? That is why UK is bankrupted for generations to come, with a £1.5 trillion pound debt. I wish I could enlighten the populace of the UK to the real truth about the EU. I spent a year studying the EU in depth, visiting both the EU Parliament and EU Commission in Brussels. Every word I heard in lectures, hundreds of hours of lectures, every word I researched for my thesis and every thing I saw in Brussels, lead me to the inescapable conclusion that the EU is an utterly corrupt, profligate, political monstrosity which has destroyed British jobs and bankrupted the UK for generations to come. The EU operates on lobbying, which is the technical term for bribery and corruption. Whatever Cameron says, EU law has supremacy over our UK law unless there is Treaty change. He may say so but the truth is that 27 other countries will never agree, this side of eternity, to change the Treaties.
So …..what is the connection between the EU, the Bilderberg Group and the almost completed TTIP? (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership)
The Bilderberg Group meet in secret each year and they are a group of phenomenally wealthy men and women from the worlds of big business, banking and politics, coming from across Europe and the US.
The TTIP represents an integral component of Bilderberg’s attempt to rescue the unipolar world (New World Order) by creating a “world company,” initially a free trade area, which would connect the United States with Europe. Just as the European Union started as a mere free trade area and was eventually transformed into a political federation which controls upwards of 50 per cent of its member states’ laws and regulations with total contempt for national sovereignty and democracy, TTIP is designed to accomplish the same goal, only on a bigger scale.
The treaty is likely to advantage the corporations of both the US and the EU, while disadvantaging their people. It presents a danger to democracy and public protection throughout the trading area.
The Bilderberg Group are focussing on how to derail a global political awakening that threatens to hinder Bilderberg’s long standing agenda to centralize power into a one world political federation, a goal set to be advanced with the passage of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP),
Bilderberg globalists are aghast and there is panic in the ranks that their planned EU superstate is being eroded as a result of a populist resistance all around Europe, mainly centred around animosity towards uncontrolled immigration policies.
And just who might we expect to find at such a secret gathering? Angela Merkel, Herman Van Rompuy (ex President of EU Council), Jean Claude Juncker, (Present President of the EU Commission), Martin Schultz,( Present President of EU Parliament), David Cameron, George Osbourne, Tony Blair, Ed Balls, Rona Fairhead, (Chair of the BBC Trust), Michael O’Leary of RyanAir, Stuart Rose (ex M & S, and BSE Chairman), Bill Clinton, Barak Obama………..…and many more. What do they all have in common? They are all trying to persuade you to stay in the EU. Why? Because it is in their warped self interest to do so! Is any of this in your interests? Absolutely not! Their modus operandi is that truth becomes lies and lies become truth. Sound familiar?
No possible option available, other than to get Out of EU ASAP.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 23/02/2019 22:00

“Not all leavers are racists, but all racists are leavers” - so the saying goes

The saying is wrong. I doubt very much that of the 48% who voted to remain, none of them hold any racist views. Choosing to remain because you think it is a better option doesn't = better person!
Some of us would like our non EU family members to be on a level playing field.

And Caucasianchalkcircles, we don't all formulate our opinions via the express or mail. This sort of lazy shit is why leavers usually CBA to get into debate on here.

HateIsNotGood · 23/02/2019 22:03

Bloody hell Blue Jag - be prepared to face a barrage of posts attempting to discredit everything you've posted; they'll demand links you know - links, links and more links. Good luck, I'm off to bed.

I agree with a lot of what you say.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 23/02/2019 22:06

They are not all thick racists Hmm

safariboot · 23/02/2019 22:09

DM voted leave. She was against us joining in the first place, I'm not sure why, but I guess she's consistent at least.

She now complains about Brexit always dominating the news, I tell her that's her own fault Grin

bellinisurge · 23/02/2019 22:17

Any allegedly clever fecker who supports No Deal is an idiot. Leave voters aren't idiots. No Deal supporters are idiots.

PierreBezukov · 23/02/2019 22:19

bluejag

I remember Barack Obama's supporting Remain and his remarks after the Leave result I found astonishing - but no one else seemed to notice at the time or since.

Obama said the Brexit vote was merely a hiccup on the road to full European integration.

PierreBezukov · 23/02/2019 22:21

The fact that the EU is so close to big global corporations and its interests lie with them rather than with nation states or indeed, actual people...

That's one of the reasons I voted Leave.
