Just me - or common?

My friends looked at me as if I had two heads when don't ask how we got on the subject I said that my nose sometime ran when having a poo. I've since discovered that my dad's does also again don't ask

Is this a quirk in my family or is it surprisingly common?

Please feel free to ask any of your own "just me or common" questions.

I've no idea on that one, but I share an odd (I assume) trait with my mum: when we're really hungry, we start to feel sick and then sneeze, which clears the nausea!

Aprilshowersarecomingsoon · 19/02/2019 13:55

My eyes water when I wee...

3out · 19/02/2019 13:55

Not heard of it before. My sister’s nose goes numb when she’s drunk though

WTFIsAGleepglorp · 19/02/2019 14:00

After eating, or during a large meal, my nose runs and I start sneezing.

This can be very awkward.

Turns out, there's a name for it.

Gustatory rhinitis

A quirk I shared with my late father.

GottenGottenGotten · 19/02/2019 14:02

I sneeze when I go from a place that's cold to one that's hot or vice versa.

Fishwifecalling · 19/02/2019 14:04

I sneeze when I have my eyebrows plucked.

My feet itch really badly if I have less than two glasses of wine. More than two they're fine.

theluckiest · 19/02/2019 14:06

My mum, one of my DSs and myself all photic sneeze.

Which is a sneeze triggered by bright sunlight or lights in general. The rest of the family all thinks this is weird Grin

MaMisled · 19/02/2019 14:10

My daughter and my sister always need a pooh after talking to me on the phone!

ajandjjmum · 19/02/2019 14:14

I sneeze in bright light - never knew it had a name! Grin

Iwanttobeanonymous · 19/02/2019 14:15

I always need to blow my nose when I poo as well

Bezalelle · 19/02/2019 14:16

I need a poo whenever I step into a Waterstones.

EstrellaDamn · 19/02/2019 14:54

I'm sure there was a thread on here about people needing to poo when they go to the library, and it was found to be an actual thing! Grin

3out · 19/02/2019 14:57

I think it’s the smell of real coffee which makes me need to go (in Waterstones, Starbucks etc)

There was a thread not that long ago about people needing to strip when they go for a poo.

jinglewithbellson · 19/02/2019 15:09

I cough whenever I'm cleaning my ears with a cotton bud Grin

DeathyMcDeathStarFace · 19/02/2019 16:20

I sneeze when going into bright light, particularly from dullness, seems pretty common. Also, eating mint makes me sneeze, particularly polos. But my nose doesn't run when having a poo though.

theluckiest · 19/02/2019 17:34

Thought of another one...I don't need a poo when I go to the library. But when I have a gin & tonic... Grin

Amibeingnaive · 20/02/2019 14:50

Not afflicted with this one, but the women of my family get really sensitive scalps when it's that TOTM. Is this unique to us?

GinisLife · 20/02/2019 14:54

I sneeze in bright light and cough if I put a cotton bud in my ears.

cantthinkofanythingwitty · 20/02/2019 14:55

Cleaning my ears makes me cough too. I didn't realise that happened to others tooGrin

RiverTam · 20/02/2019 14:55

no, but eating spicy food makes my nose run.

RiverTam · 20/02/2019 14:56

and do share exactly how you got on to this, OP... Grin

TheFuckfaceWhisperer · 20/02/2019 16:07

When I drink certain alcohol, my kneecaps get hot and go red. But only in September/October. I did actually see a doctor about it a few years back and he couldn't think of any reason why this would happen and just decided I'm weird it's just one of those things...

ItProtectsMyHead · 21/02/2019 15:01

I sneeze when I pluck my eyebrows and I cough when using cotton buds in my ears. Seems I'm actually vaguely normal Smile

jinglewithbellson · 21/02/2019 22:30

So glad it's not just me with the ear buds and coughing thing Grin

Plucking my eyebrows makes my stomach dip like a rollercoaster does if it's not done quickly enough.

Sometimes stubbing a toe results in a sharp nerve feeling in my eye Grin
