I've fallen down a very expensive rabbit hole...

I was only looking for plastic animals for school topics, and now i've fallen head first down a Schleich rabbit (and other animals) hole.

Oh my goodness they're lovely and so detailed for such small figures, but the price Shock

3 dinosaurs selling for £20+, a panda and her baby for nearly £10 delivered to my door.

Now i've seen them, other plastic animals just look crap and cheaply made in comparison. Yet if I ever bought any, I would be too tight to actually give them to the children to play with. Grin

My daughter had TONNES of these.

I gave them all to charity about 3 years ago...

I just had a baby boy and am kicking myself Angry

Someaddedsugar · 18/02/2019 18:28

They’re fab aren’t they!

You can often get bargains on eBay and Gumtree.

Charity you say Shock I suggest you don't look at Ebay the prices are ridiculous.

We’ve got a box full somewhere. Dc never played with them. eBay you say...

KimberWozRobbed · 18/02/2019 18:33

My youngest loves these and gets so much play out of them that they are worth every penny.

Sexnotgender · 18/02/2019 18:33

Oh don’t tell me that!!

We had nearly all of the big dinosaurs and about 40 assorted animals.

IceRebel · 18/02/2019 18:34

Errr no Pink don't look, send them to me so I can let the school children enjoy them without bankrupting myself. [Grin]

Ooh I have a scleich sloth hanging around on a palm tree in my lounge.

I've fallen down a very expensive rabbit hole...
Kaykay06 · 18/02/2019 18:34

I have tonnes of the dinosaurs and animals I’ve collected for my kids over the years, they are lovely, my youngest still plays with them. Expensive though yes! Worth it IMO as they’ve lasted well

RandomMess · 18/02/2019 18:37

I fell in love with a £16k fibreglass rabbit sculpture, yours are a bargain!

KarineAimee · 18/02/2019 18:37

Yes indeed, I have fallen down that rabbit hole. My daughter really loves her Schleich animals. I comfort myself with the fact they last really well so will do for the rest of her childhood and her sibling’s (due May ‘19) too.

IceRebel · 18/02/2019 18:40

I love the idea of having a sloth hanging around the house. Grin

KayKay The do look lovely and i'm please to hear they last well, but would they last well with continuous play from school children?

RandomMess That Rabbit looks like someone got cross when painting and just chucked it at a garden ornament. Confused

@IceRebel you clearly don't appreciate fine art GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

IceRebel · 18/02/2019 18:45

Karine i'm glad i'm not the only one who has fallen down the hole. It's reassuring to hear from several posters how well they last, but that's just a few children playing with them. I'd hate to see what continuous play from many school children would do to them. Grin

Random if it costs 16k i'm glad I don't appreciate fine art, just think how many sloths, pandas and dinosaurs I could buy the class with 16K... Heck actually 16k would buy a TA, we have them in each class our school. However, i'm sure I could find a teacher who doesn't, and would love me forever for buying a TA for a year. Grin

They would just be loved...

We had a team of horses at one point ££££

RandomMess · 18/02/2019 18:50

I have to agree the colour of the rabbit detracts from the eye pleasing shape...

A TA would be a better use of £16k I guess Sad

spiderlight · 18/02/2019 19:00

Well, now I have a Schleich sloth on its way from Amazon Grin

IceRebel · 18/02/2019 19:05

A TA would be a better use of 16k, it might even stretch to 2 TAs depending on their hours. However i'm sure you could make a replica of the rabbit for much much less. (Although it would also be much smaller) Smile

Gosh, yes, Schleich are gorgeous but pricey. My weakness are the figures from the company Ostheimer. They're made of wood and sit so beautifully in the hand. I'm gradually bilding up a Christmas crib, expensive figure by expensive figure .....

IceRebel · 18/02/2019 19:12

Spider Opps sorry for being a bad influence, I start a thread about not being able to justify the cost and there's you off buying a sloth. Grin

I might have to get myself some animals to err investigate the quality... they definitely won't sit on a bookshelf looking all cute... honest.

Don't think it hasn't been considered WinkBlush

I ended up settling for a particular lamp instead for £150 instead.

As well as the horses we had to bizarrely have a family of sylvanian rabbits Confused

I must not google this, I must not google this. Grin

They are truly lovely, and imo well worth the money as they last forever, but are they as useful as the little concrete duck I bought last week to put on top of my bookshelves to stop Dcat from leaping up and knocking my Alexa to the floor?
