What are you all doing today?

I have 2 preteen DC. We are all still in pjs, drinking tea and watching TV. About to make a roast dinner. No plans at all.

Yesterday we went out for a walk and picnic for a few hours and then just watched TV in the evening.

It's all very lovely after a busy week, but I just feel like I should be actively doing something with them when we have days like this. That whole "make the most of everything" feeling I guess.

Do you feel guilty if you don't "do" anything?

Well, the first bright and sunny day for ages (but still cold).
The first thing I saw was the dirt on my windows - DH, very sensibly, said "who cares?". So I have sorted out my seeds into a time line, put on a neccessary wash, bought a book on audible, will probably bake a cake if I feel up to it and do some work on our archive materials.
DD is in bed recovering form a severe cold
DS is in bed just because
DH is working (another deadline)

No, as all shops and offices (apart from shift workers) are closed on Sudays - nothing is what I am supposed to do. So I do my duty. Smile

happymummy12345 · 17/02/2019 11:29

We never do things as a family at weekends. My husband is usually working, so ds and I are at home. Usual things to do, washing, ironing and so on.
At the moment we aren't very well though, I've had a cold for over a week that won't shift, ds isn't too well, and last night dh said he wasn't too well either.
But things carry on as usual. Dh is at work, ds is playing, and I'm doing ironing.

PurplePepperEater · 17/02/2019 11:33

Sunday’s are the day of rest around here
Pjs, films, chocolate milk, daytime play baths, roast dinners, puddings and card games - the world is far too busy, sometimes we all need to take some time to just ‘be’ Smile

WoollyMummoth · 17/02/2019 11:35

I’m pounding tha treadmill as I tpyp it’s nott Easyuh!

catmumoffour · 17/02/2019 11:38

Ah you're making me feel better! And YES to the first sunshine showing you how dirty things are!!

Some jobs round the house while DC play and then visiting relatives this afternoon. Probably cook something nice for dinner and watch Netflix later. Might do some YouTube yoga or pilates. Getting organised for the week ahead also. I like a doing nothing day now and again. It's totally fine especially if you are usually busy.

DinosApple · 17/02/2019 11:44

I'm in the bath soaking. I've worked every day this week so need it!

Then I'm prepping a roast followed by taking the DC out for a walk when DH gets back. We'd hoped to get to the seaside today but actually just some time together without the long drive would be much nicer.

Gazelda · 17/02/2019 11:46

Going to a work-related lunch for 3 hours where I won't know a single person. Everyone there already know each other and are family/friends.
Terrified!
I don't know if I've dressed appropriately, am rubbish at small talk and would far, far rather be at home with my own family on my day off.
I guess this is what you call taking one for the teamSad

catmumoffour · 17/02/2019 12:04

Oh dear! That doesn't sound like a very relaxing Sunday!

OP posts:
Fallulah · 17/02/2019 12:10

Good luck Gazelda!
I’ve put a load of washing on, weeded the tiny patch that is called a front garden and partly weeded the side of the back garden. Getting frustrated by neighbours tree - might have to start a thread about it rather then actually go and speak to them...!
Off to my parents for lunch shortly and then out with the dog I think.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/02/2019 12:12

@Gazelda
I feel for you Flowers - that's on my "avoid at all costs" -list. Like you, I do it if I have to, but I need time for recovery afterwards.

Racheyg · 17/02/2019 12:18

I did a 60 min spin class at 8 while the kids played in the crèche.

Cooked breakfast then showered while the kids had a bath. Just working through ds1 mountain of home work, while dh reads with ds2.

Not sure what the plans are for the rest of the day??

Allyg1185 · 17/02/2019 12:29

Done the housework from top to bottom. Changed all the bedsheets. Caught up on all the washing thats built up over half term of playing out. Prepared ds packed lunch for tomorrow. Now for an afternoon of doing nothing when he goes to his Grans

itsbritneybiatches · 17/02/2019 12:37

I made a spaghetti bolagnaise (the meat and sauce) last night.

Having my mum and dad over later for their tea.

DD is having her friend from school over for a play date in an hour and I will tidy up downstairs whilst they are playing then probably have to pair up 80 Barbie shoes in the Barbie house later Blush and ironing.

Other half will be home at tea time then we will have an early night maybe and telly in bed.

OurChristmasMiracle · 17/02/2019 12:38

I’ve walked to the gym and now just cooling down ready to pop Aldi and walk home to do a spring clean of my bedroom.

(No dependents)

CakeNinja · 17/02/2019 12:39

Taking our 2 teens out for a walk in the sunshine and some lunch before they go off on their school trip tomorrow.
The younger child is out at a party for most of the day and it’s rare that we get to spend time with the teens without him so we are looking forward to it.
If only they would hurry up and find their bloody shoes Grin

Aaaahfuck · 17/02/2019 14:23

Decorating. I don't know if it is because we don't have children so don't need to clear up for health and safety but the whole house seems to go to chaos.

MillieMoodle · 17/02/2019 14:45

Had a lazy morning and did the online shopping for the week. Then popped out to the supermarket to get bread. Hung some washing out in the garden as it was lovely and sunny but the sky is looking very ominous now. DH and DS1 are sorting out DS1's bedroom. DS1 has a basketball game later on and then we're going to my parents for dinner. Half term next week here and I'm only in work Monday and Tuesday so looking forward to getting some time at home and doing a bit of a spring clean.

WildIrishRose1 · 17/02/2019 14:55

I cleaned the extractor hood earlier. Messy job. Now matching socks, have to go to the shops
for dinner in a while, then will probably iron later in front of the TV. What an interesting life I leadGrin

BitchQueen90 · 17/02/2019 15:01

Sunday is our lazy day but I hate staying in all day (have 5yo DS and he has loads of energy) so we always come out for a walk or bike ride in the morning. Then usually have films in the afternoon and I make a roast most weeks. I'm slightly hungover today so I'm salivating at the thought of it!

catmumoffour · 17/02/2019 15:03

We've just had our roast and are now under blankets watching a film. I'm glad you are all doing similar, I don't feel like such a bad mum for it now

ilovepinkgin33 · 17/02/2019 15:05

I took ds3 to watch the new Lego movie this morning then took him to McDonald's after...ds13 didn't want to come surprisingly so I brought him food back, dd 16 isn't out of bed yet 🤨🤨

I'm not lazing on the sofa with my dressing gown on me flicking through twitter and Mumsnet whilst scoffing a cheese pizza with burger sauce.... I really wish I had a gin and tonic to hand to be fair

itsbritneybiatches · 17/02/2019 15:09

I'm shivering on the sofa. In the last hour I've come down with the bug my daughter and my mum had.

Feel horrific and can't eat or drink. Horrible stomach pains

YogaWannabe · 17/02/2019 15:13

DD is making a big Minecraft LEGO empire and I’m snuggled up with ddog watchin the impractical jokers!

kaytee87 · 17/02/2019 15:22

DH, 2.5yo ds and I went shopping then to a museum then to a big public park now DH has DS in the woods behind our house while I do the dishwasher and clothes washings. Weathers been spring like all afternoon :)
