Me and my friend were meant to be meeti g for lunch today but neither of us can be bothered brushing our hair and putting jeans on today SO she said why don't I just come over and we will make our own pizzas and chill.

Great, I said. Sounds amazing. And I can put my really sexy baggy tracksuit on.

I've never made a pizza before... What do I do?? I'll probably buy a premade base but then what?

If you’re using a pre-made base, it’s even easier. Make (or buy) a tomato sauce (Passata, small bit of purée, herbs and a pinch of salt and sugar) until it’s thick.

Spread it across the base, leaving a gap around the edges. Grated mozzarella and cheddar mix over the top. Then your toppings.

Ragevibration · 17/02/2019 10:57

The premade pizzas in tesco have some really nice thick flakes off cheese on them... Is that parmasan? Wouldn't mind some of that.

I have passata and herbs so that's fine... Could I add garlic? I really like garlic.

Hungry already wdy Grin

basically once youve put the tomato mix onto the base you can put anything you want on top, i do half and half because i like plain cheese and tomato and Oh likes things like pancetta and peppers

AwakeAfterMidnight · 17/02/2019 11:02

We use corn tortilla wraps to make ours. Make tomato sauce as above and add topping of choice. It's usually mozzarella cheese not parmesan.

Slowknitter · 17/02/2019 11:06

Seriously? That's a bit like asking how to make a sandwich. Get base. Put tomato sauce on and add what toppings you want. Nicer if you make the base yourself though - it's not hard.

BertieBotts · 17/02/2019 11:09

You can also buy a margharita base and just stick your own toppings on if feeling v lazy :)

Joopy · 17/02/2019 11:10

The BBC has a really good recipe with a video demonstration.

Nemesia · 17/02/2019 11:14

Sometimes I just spread a mix of tomato puree and garlic puree on the base if I'm feeling very lazy.

Applesaregreenandred · 17/02/2019 11:18

If you have DC it's a great activity to do with them or if their friends come round - every one chooses their own topping. You can also get packet mix to make the base.

BornInAThunderstorm · 17/02/2019 11:20

If you’re going to tesco why not just buy a premade pizza with toppings on?

The goodfellas takeaway pizzas in the freezer aisle come up fluffy and crunchy like a dominos

Whackaguacamole · 17/02/2019 11:22

A chef friend who makes awesome pizzas just loosens tomato puree with water for the sauce and its perfect! Don't feel you need a fancy cooked tomato sauce

PhilomenaButterfly · 17/02/2019 11:26

DS 7 can make a pizza. Confused

Ragevibration · 17/02/2019 11:32

I've just never done it before! I know how to construct a pizza I. E. Base, sauce, cheese, toppings.

I did not know how to make the sauce nor which cheese to use which now I do so thanks Grin maybe it will be so tasty that I never need to order a domino's again!!

I coukd just buy one but that wouldn't be as much fun apparently according to best friend!

BiscuitDrama · 17/02/2019 11:33

I use sundried tomato paste as the sauce. Works well.

MrsPMT · 17/02/2019 11:39

I use Jamie Olivers recipe, make pizzas about once a week, very easy.
here [[https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/bread-recipes/basic-pizza/ ]].

If you do this you won't want a shop bought one again Smile

myrtleWilson · 17/02/2019 11:39

OP - making your own base isn't difficult and they taste lush. There are loads of recipes out there, one that always worked for me was by the lifestyle blogger Rosie something or other, her blog is called The Londoner and if you google Londoner + pizza you'll find it. No idea how I found her blog in the first place as she inhabits a different universe to me but I believe in her pizza dough! 🙌😂

TheFuckfaceWhisperer · 17/02/2019 12:40

I just use tomato puree, but I'm impatient

Hairyporker · 17/02/2019 12:43

Open freezer. Take out pizza. Put in oven.

VanillaSauce · 17/02/2019 12:49

Cheats pizza. Use self raising flour and water to make the base and cook it in a frying pan instead. Theres a Jamie Oliver recipe somewhere for this.

SpaceCadet4000 · 17/02/2019 14:09

I'm another who uses tomato puree, but I add water, a little olive oil, garlic, and a little oregano.

I've found that plain Naan bread makes a nicer pizza base than those cardboardy dry ones they sell premade.

Ragevibration · 17/02/2019 18:58

So homemade pizza is amazing and you can put a whole mountain of cheese on it!! Sold!!!

OP posts:
myrtleWilson · 18/02/2019 21:19

did you make your own base OP - they are soooo much nicer - I was amazed the first time I did homemade pizza - why had I been paying tonnes more money for something not as nice!

kaytee87 · 18/02/2019 21:30

I like making pitta bread pizzas; wholemeal (or white) pitta spread with tomato purée, topped with grated mozzarella then whatever other toppings you like. 10 minutes in oven.
