I was doing that dialect quiz and selected Granny which apparently is nearly unique to Scotland and (mainly Northern) Ireland.

I'm from the south west.

What do you call your parent's mother and roughly where are you from?

My dc have 1 x Nana and 1 x Grandma.

I honestly don’t know as I didn’t have any grandmothers! I found that question really hard. I think Granny or Gran was most common.

TeachesOfPeaches · 16/02/2019 15:48

Granny - English with Irish grandparents

cardibach · 16/02/2019 15:48

Granny. Welsh extraction in Midlands. I wouldn’t say Granny was nearly exclusive to Scotland! Very common in lots of places I’ve lived (I’m a teacher so I’ve spoken to a lot of people over the years and have worked in several bits of England and Wales.

BuffaloCauliflower · 16/02/2019 15:48

Surrey/London. Granny on one side, Nanny on the other. I’d have thought Granny was pretty Home Counties
