Has anyone done the British-Irish dialect quiz?

Everyone on Twitter seems to be getting really accurate answers but it put me firmly South West & I've only been there twice! I can only think my mix of growing up in one part of the country with parents from another confused it...

OP posts:

Yes got me accurately to city.

BearSoFair · 15/02/2019 18:05

Not too bad for me, it put Southend, I'm London.

nocoolnamesleft · 15/02/2019 18:16

The main hotspot includes where I was raised. There are 4 lesser hotspots. I have lived/worked in 3 of them. That's pretty impressive.

Flump9 · 15/02/2019 18:26

Accurate for me but the question on mom/mommy narrows it down for me as that makes it West Midlands on it's own.

BibbityBobbityEars · 15/02/2019 18:35

Luton for me. I lived near there for several years but from Manchester originally.

BrizzleMint · 15/02/2019 18:37

I'm most similar to two areas where I have never been or lived and have no family from. Therefore I call cobblers! Grin

KatharinaRosalie · 15/02/2019 18:42

Accurate: Definitely not from around here are you? Your answers were closer to the average person outside of Ireland and Britain than anywhere inside it.

Crunchymum · 15/02/2019 18:42

Didn't work for me at all?

Showed me loads of different maps for different answers but didn't place "me" as being anywhere Shock

GlitterPixie · 15/02/2019 18:46

They got the country right but not the area - it placed me in an area with a strong regional accent I definitely do not have

Isth · 15/02/2019 18:51

Put me as very south east... born and raised in Devon, although people often say I sound too ‘posh’ to be local!

PortiaCastis · 15/02/2019 18:55

Put me in the south west which is more or less correct as I'm Cornish and have a Cornish accent

InMyOwnParticularIdiom · 15/02/2019 19:08

Yeah it gets that I grew up in North Wales but also that I was born in a far away English place, v impressive

BeachtheButler · 15/02/2019 19:09

Accurate both for where I was born and also where my family originally came from!

pisspawpatrol · 15/02/2019 19:12

Absolutely accurate to where I was raised, the town it named is 8 miles from where I lived aged 2-22.

BillywigSting · 15/02/2019 19:18

It seems to have no idea where I'm from which is somewhat unsurprising as I'm a bit of a heinz beans

Juells · 15/02/2019 20:00

I'm amazed at how accurate it was - showed Limerick, where I grew up, and Dublin where I've lived most of my adult life. Confused

n0ne · 15/02/2019 20:05

Didn't get me but my area has a bit of a weird accent it being at the point where Essex meets NE London, but posh-ish (and I went to a posh school). Plus one parent is foreign which probably influences my idiolect.

DelurkingAJ · 15/02/2019 20:07

Spot on...to the right part of the right county.

mathanxiety · 15/02/2019 20:08

Place marking as I can't do the quiz on my phone.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 15/02/2019 20:32

Fairly accurate, roughly the area I grew up in but strongly the area I went to university in, which is around an hour away from my hometown

LBOCS2 · 15/02/2019 20:44

Suggested Cambridge or Bournemouth.

I have spent 30 of the last 34 years in south London. So not that accurate for me!

elQuintoConyo · 15/02/2019 21:08

Cambridge/Norfolk mostly on my map which is odd as that,'s where my folks are from but I have never lived!

I guess Scottish Highlands-Bristol-Lincoln-Kebt is too mixed an upbringing to pinpoint an accent!

I have soft southern vowels but a very flat boring voice, no juice!

Auntpetunia2015 · 15/02/2019 21:31

Scouser through and through and it got it spot on!

soulrider · 15/02/2019 21:33

Fairly accurate for me but only really based on two words from all those questions - mardy and beck

ShowOfHands · 15/02/2019 21:42

I'd be really curious to see if it can guess mine. I collect and use dialects a lot and have no accent to speak of. Just loads a blank page though.
