Everyone on Twitter seems to be getting really accurate answers but it put me firmly South West & I've only been there twice! I can only think my mix of growing up in one part of the country with parents from another confused it...

I got a blank space. Will try on the tablet later.
I thought a lot of it was quite class based so I'm interested to see if it gets me. I'm northern but a bit posh so I saw lots of local words that I grew up with but would never use myself like tea, mam, bap. Obviously I do use the word tea - my life revolves around it but the kind you drink not eat

JohnWolfenstein · 15/02/2019 16:38

I didn't get a result, no map came up Sad

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 15/02/2019 16:41

well...I was born in Scotland until school, lived/schools in Somerset and Dorset until late teens

it thinks I am Oxford, Peterborough, Cambridge ...big diagonal red splodge over London. People are always surprised when they find out where I am from. Oh well. :o

Sgtmajormummy · 15/02/2019 16:43

Haha!
It put me in Central Wales! Never been there!
It did have a slight stain in the part of the UK where I was born, so probably parental influence.
And another in the West of Ireland.
Completely different accent to the part of Ireland I spent my teenage years.
So not very accurate in my case.

LGFuad · 15/02/2019 16:45

Yep, I am apparently as Manc as they come - pretty accurate!

tabulahrasa · 15/02/2019 16:51

Ooh

It gave me big red bits up by fort William and round Edinburgh.

I grew up in Oban and live near Edinburgh... so pretty accurate really

generalh · 15/02/2019 16:51

Mine was spot on - South Wales

PCohle · 15/02/2019 16:56

Mine was also dead on.

itsnnothere · 15/02/2019 16:59

Wolverhampton- I'm from stafford 16 miles north, so not bad

UnperfectLife · 15/02/2019 17:03

Couldn't have got me more wrong- south east when i was raised in far north west! My parents weren't local though- so I guess I didn't fully acquire the local dialect.

Slowknitter · 15/02/2019 17:04

Mine didn't do too well. It placed me most strongly somewhere round Portsmouth or Hastings, but I grew up in Bucks.

hunibuni · 15/02/2019 17:05

Interesting to see that I have completely assimilated the local accent/dialect and it was very accurate in placing me in NI, although I'm not even British. Mine covered NI, Aberdeen and most of north Scotland, which isn't surprising considering I have lived in a strong Ulster Scots region for over 20 years. A lot of the words and phrases are common with Scots and I'm often told I sound Scottish over the phone.

PuzzlingPuzzle · 15/02/2019 17:07

Mine was spot on based on where I grew up. I’m very relieved to know stateside living hasn’t done too much damage.

Meet0nTheledge · 15/02/2019 17:15

I just got a map with dark areas all
over SE England. Which is correct but not very specific.

Sakura7 · 15/02/2019 17:16

Mine shows a blank but when it breaks down the questions I get a map for some (not all). Annoying after spending the time doing it!

Spudlet · 15/02/2019 17:23

Pretty spot on - East Mids. Interesting!

zenasfuck · 15/02/2019 17:31

Mine gave the exact town I was born and lived in al my life Shock

EnidButton · 15/02/2019 17:35

Way off for me. Trying to work out why. Think I'll do it again to check,

Heratnumber7 · 15/02/2019 17:40

It put me about 6 miles from where I was born and brought up!

Heratnumber7 · 15/02/2019 17:42

what accent pronounces the vowel in 'rode' and 'road' differently?

Mine!

MorrisZapp · 15/02/2019 17:43

I got a blank space. Couldn't get rid of the cookie box. Couldn't type in words when asked. Yes, it is class based. There are words very local to me that I know well, but don't use. I'll try again and just use the local words.

EnidButton · 15/02/2019 17:51

More accurate on second go and interesting to see some of the options have been extended since this morning. Presumably through people submitting there own words for things.

EnidButton · 15/02/2019 17:52

*their !

AwkwardSquad · 15/02/2019 18:01

It suggested most of the North of England and south of Scotland for me, but that’s about right. My accent and vocabulary reflects a variety of influences Grin

Parthenope · 15/02/2019 18:03

*Presumably through people submitting there own words for things.(

Yes, I had fun putting in the most uncompromisingly local-to-my-birthplace-that-it-didn't-put-me-anywhere-near terms.
