Has anyone done the British-Irish dialect quiz?

Everyone on Twitter seems to be getting really accurate answers but it put me firmly South West & I've only been there twice! I can only think my mix of growing up in one part of the country with parents from another confused it...

Mine didn't bring up a map.

Mamadothehump · 15/02/2019 15:06

Incorrect for me - put me much further south than I am! Correct side of the country though!!

petitdonkey · 15/02/2019 15:10

Put me in Taunton or Exeter - I grew up in the Midlands and have lived in London and the South East for twenty years... Miles out!

BreconBeBuggered · 15/02/2019 15:12

Hmmm, it had me from places I've lived in, but not where I was born, brought up, or currently live.

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 15/02/2019 15:16

Ooh, that was fun! I don't have much of the accent I grew up with, but some of the terminology must have given me away. Grin

WingBingo · 15/02/2019 15:17

Spot on for me!

ShadyLady53 · 15/02/2019 15:18

It puts me in the South East or London.

I’m from the North West with Irish, Scottish and Asian immediate family Confused.

bellinisurge · 15/02/2019 15:22

Spot on. Dunno if they use cookies of some kind to cheat. Or it's just spot on. I'll ask my dh who is from a bit further south of the Narth than I am.Grin

starfishmummy · 15/02/2019 15:26

I didn't get the main map either. But then it said that one of the main answers that placed me was the bread roll thing. So I knew the would have it right as our word is very specific to where I live.

AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo · 15/02/2019 15:29

Thank you Parthenope - going to try it.

JaneJeffer · 15/02/2019 15:32

I got the right province but the wrong county.

Whatififall · 15/02/2019 15:33

Exactly right for me, it picked north east England and named the city

smurfy2015 · 15/02/2019 15:37

Spot on for me

overtheirishsea · 15/02/2019 15:42

Said Portsmouth but I was raised in Mid-Kent

AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo · 15/02/2019 15:45

Have done the long version and got pretty much the same results - a place just east of where I grew up and my university town.

notsmartenough · 15/02/2019 15:46

Named correct city for me.

Dowser · 15/02/2019 15:50

North east England between Newcastle and Scarborough
Spot on

Oblomov19 · 15/02/2019 15:53

No. Just said I was southern.

BadlyAgedMemes · 15/02/2019 16:00

That's... interesting.... It puts me into some area south of London, or around Bath area.

I have never visited either of these places, let alone lived there. I learnt most of my English from American TV shows, then lived in Ireland, and now live in the N of England. DH is Irish. I can get away with "sounding" Irish when the listener isn't actually Irish themselves, or particularly familiar with how real Irish people sound. Never would have thought I'd sound like SE England.

Melfish · 15/02/2019 16:10

I got put in the area between London and Portsmouth (pretty accurate considering) and bizarrely the area around Norwich. I’ve never been there!

CluedoAddict · 15/02/2019 16:12

Wrong for me. I got Liverpool or Birmingham. I am from another Midlands city but not Birmingham.

ozymandiusking · 15/02/2019 16:17

Wrong for me. It put me as if from London, I am from, and still live in the north west.

swirlette · 15/02/2019 16:23

It's really interesting to see how right it is for everyone else! For people getting blank screens, I think it's not the most mobile friendly - my DM couldn't get it to work til she tried it on a laptop. It was totally wrong for her too, maybe my family has our own odd dialect!

JadziaSnax · 15/02/2019 16:23

It put me between Blackpool and Manchester. Pretty accurate.

pennycarbonara · 15/02/2019 16:25

I've lived in quite a few different areas so I thought I might flummox it, and to an extent I did. It got two or three of them right (third of those was quite weak in the shading) but it missed a couple (despite them being strong in a lot of the individual maps), and also put lots of red around the East Mids, where I've hardly spent any time. Maybe some kind of averaging.
