Is your wedding band inscribed? And, if so, what does it say?

Hello from across the pond!

Happy Valentine's Day! Smile

I was just cleaning my ring and I was reminded that my wedding ring is inscribed on the inside. For reference, it is a bloomed 18k gold band with old European cut diamonds from the Victorian era (1900-1909) as says Faithful Unto Death My husband has an antique ring from the same era and it says the same thing. We chose this particular inscription because it mirrors our marriage vows and our promise to one another that we will always have each others back in all things. Fidelity, sickness, etc., but it says it in a much more eloquent and nostalgic waySmile

Anyway, I love all things romance, so I would love to know if you lovely ladies (and gentleman) of MN have anything inscribed in your rings and if so what is the meaning behind it?

Mine says ‘to have and to hold’ and Dh’s says ‘from this day forward’.

StillMedusa · 14/02/2019 20:12

'One ring to the rule them all one ring to bind them...'
(only joking, mine's not engraved but I wish it was!)

donquixotedelamancha · 14/02/2019 20:14

Mine genuinely says:

Ash nazg thrakatulûk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul

It's the most impressive gift my wife has ever given.

StillMedusa Cross post :-)

hodgeheg92 · 14/02/2019 20:16

Mine says "I'll be yours completely" and DHs says "For better or for worse" - which are consecutive lines from our first dance song.

JustHereForThePooStories · 14/02/2019 20:17

Mine genuinely says:

Ash nazg thrakatulûk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul

How big are your fingers???? Shock

JuniLoolaPalooza · 14/02/2019 20:18

I don't have one but my mum's (married in the 70s) is stamped with 'lucky'. I"ll have to ask her why! Never questioned it before really.

Bananasarenottheonlyfruit · 14/02/2019 20:19

Just our initials and the date we got married. No excuses for forgetting!

Auslander · 14/02/2019 20:19

Mine has our names and date of wedding. OH doesn't have one.

wineandsunshine · 14/02/2019 20:19

Mine has our wedding date - love you always on mine/love you forever on his

donquixotedelamancha · 14/02/2019 20:21

How big are your fingers????

Fat. Still it's on the inside and out to fit both verses. That's the phonetic spelling, because my phone doesn't type sindarin (goes to look for an app...)

mynameisMrG · 14/02/2019 20:21

reallybadidea · 14/02/2019 20:24

I can't remember Blush Happily married, honest, but neither of us really wears our wedding rings.

buckeejit · 14/02/2019 20:25

Mine says 'I could've done worse'

😁 not really but it should

Namechangedforthis79 · 14/02/2019 20:25

Mine says "nothing else matters" - its the name of "our" song.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 14/02/2019 20:26

My original wasn't engraved but the replacement has our initials and the date of our wedding

MimsyBorogroves · 14/02/2019 20:26

Ours has initials and dates. We've never forgotten them, but as I'm shit with numbers it's nice to have a backup plan.

bonniebanks · 14/02/2019 20:32

Mine says "happy together forever"
Husbands says "my heart, forever yours"
We picked what went in the others ring.

CoatTails · 14/02/2019 20:34

Mine says ‘my 5’6 lil box of tricks’

Catscakeandchocolate · 14/02/2019 20:35

DHs says "let us go then you and I" - opening line from the poem Lovesong for J Alfred Prufrock.

EnidButton · 14/02/2019 20:36

It was until the dickhead in the jewellers polished it out when I took it in to be cleaned. Ffs. Didn't think I needed to specify to not polish the engraving away but there you go.

Was names and date.

Insertwitticismhere · 14/02/2019 20:39

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 14/02/2019 20:40

“Mizpah” - a Hebrew phrase meaning ‘watchtower’ or, figuratively and as in Genesis 31:48, “may God bear witness / watch over thee and me”.

It belonged to my grandmother and isn’t my wedding ring in the strictest sense, but I’ve worn it for two decades.
