Is your wedding band inscribed? And, if so, what does it say?

Hello from across the pond!

Happy Valentine's Day! Smile

I was just cleaning my ring and I was reminded that my wedding ring is inscribed on the inside. For reference, it is a bloomed 18k gold band with old European cut diamonds from the Victorian era (1900-1909) as says Faithful Unto Death My husband has an antique ring from the same era and it says the same thing. We chose this particular inscription because it mirrors our marriage vows and our promise to one another that we will always have each others back in all things. Fidelity, sickness, etc., but it says it in a much more eloquent and nostalgic waySmile

Anyway, I love all things romance, so I would love to know if you lovely ladies (and gentleman) of MN have anything inscribed in your rings and if so what is the meaning behind it?

PinkSparklyPussyCat, ours are replacements too! I was working at a jewelry store when we got engaged and I was convinced by my boss to but these ugly white gold rings called comfort bands. I totally went against my gut, because I wanted yellow gold and antique. I can't believe I allowed myself to be talked into something so important to me. But, I valued his opinion, so there you have it. We love our replacements so much more and it doesn't bother us that they're not the originals, because who cares? It's what they symbolize that matters most. We know ourselves (and each other) so much better now! Smile

Mine was my grandmother’s. It has a single word inside ‘Fidelity’

Tequilamockinbird · 14/02/2019 20:55

Mine isn't but DH's is. On the outside in small print - our names and our wedding date.

Mine says 'One and Only'. DH's isn't engraved.

Lollypop27 · 14/02/2019 20:59

Dh doesn’t have one. Mine says I love you.

Pickledonionqueen · 14/02/2019 21:03

One of my friends wedding ring genuinely says 'put it back on' and so does her husband's!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 16/02/2019 19:00

MissLanes I'm glad I'm not the only one! My original ring was yellow gold as platinum was much more expensive at the time but most of my other jewellery is either silver or white gold. I love my new rings, they are much more 'me' and I can't wait to get my reset engagement ring back!

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/02/2019 19:03

I have the smallest and thinnest plain gold band - in tiny letters it just has our names and the date of our wedding - DH's is the same but slightly bigger writing Grin

It was my great grandmothers ring, matches my rose gold engagement ring and fits perfectly though !

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 17/02/2019 21:33

MrsS92 Sa, that's quite a beautiful sentiment, carrying on that tradition, especially if they truly loved each other (which I'm sure your great grandmother did) My grandmother on my fathers side was truly in love with her (and she, him) and I read a letter recently that proclaimed how happy they were and how blessed they felt. It was really nice to read, and the opposite of my mothers side of the family who had no love at all. Sad

Mine says 'From xxxxx to xxx with love.' Followed by the date of our wedding. Husband says the same.

No excuse for not knowing anniversary date.

Blankiefan · 17/02/2019 21:43

Ours say "Mine!"

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 17/02/2019 21:49

These are the sweetest!
I just love reading all of your stories!
Thank you! Flowers Smile

Ours say ‘Grow old with me’. And the date

Frosty26827 · 17/02/2019 21:54

Mine says “ all I refuse and thee I choose”

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 17/02/2019 21:57

JontyDoggle37, Omg, that is utterly *beautiful!!!!!

whitetoblerone · 17/02/2019 21:58

@hodgeheg92 was your first dance 'The One' by Kodaline?

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 17/02/2019 21:59

Frosty26827, that is beautiful too! I love the old language, it sounds so beautiful!

God, I am annoying myself right now, how many times am I going to say the word "beautiful"?

Sorry, guys. Even I make myself want to puke sometimes. LOL! Grin

honeybeetheoneandonly · 17/02/2019 22:00

Mine says "little spoon" while my husband's says "big spoon". Still loving it.

BlingLoving · 17/02/2019 22:05

Ours weren't engraved. But when i had mine reset, they had to use different diamonds. So one of the original diamonds has been placed on the inside so that I have something from the original ring and ceremony. Means a lot to me.

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 17/02/2019 22:09

BlingLoving, I love that. That is really beautiful. Like a treasured secret. I love hidden compartments and lockets and such, poison rings, that sort of thing. Castles with secret entryways, bookcases that you push and open into secret rooms. I love that kind of stuff. Symbolism. Sigh!

@MadameJosephine, mine was my granny’s too and is also stamped inside with “Fidelity”. I always thought it was super romantic but apparently it was a brand of wedding rings!

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 17/02/2019 22:11

We both have our wedding date, Gráim Thú and then each other’s names.

Bobobobobob · 17/02/2019 22:19

Mine isn't. In fact I don't even know where my wedding ring is. Incredibly proud that my friend's DH inscribed her wedding ring with a nickname I invented:)

MadameJosephine · 17/02/2019 22:24

@pasbeaucoupdegendarme

Was it really? That makes a lot of sense actually, my grandad never did strike me as the romantic type
